Crazy that he walked 4 and still only had 99 pitches in 8 innings. Seemed like someone got in his ear after the first inning. The first two walks I remember seemed like he was way ahead in the count and then got too cute trying to nibble. I think if he can fully trust his stuff he’s gonna be really good

Allen is posting a .637 OPS due to an unsustainable .373 BABIP. He’s not an everyday SS, just like he wasn’t back in February. He’s barely an acceptable bench player.

Yeah, but he made about four of the best plays you'll ever see a shortstop make. Just in this game.

Not a longterm answer, for sure; and offensive regression will certainly eat away at his overall value. Nevertheless, he’s been worth 0.7 fwar thus far on the strength of his defense, which has been huge given the tribulations of the first month-plus.
