Fredi: "Do you really expect us to win this game, I mean look at who our starting pitcher is today? I'm scared as hell, in that ballpark be lucky to not give up 4 homers in the 1st. Some guys need to get some playing time, so today is a good day to run them out there, see what they got you know. And some guys in the pen need work as well, they're assured of that, I told everyone to be warm and throwing after 1st pitch. You never know, some of these guys might surprise."

He's still missing the target quite a bit, but he's mixing pitches and locations reasonably well . . . and the misses aren't high and over the middle of the plate. His stuff is good enough that he's not gonna need impeccable command to be a solid back-end starter.

Folty could throw a no hitter and you wouldn't like him. The fact is every pitcher misses his spots from time to time. But what is important is flowers is calling a game that is keeping guys off balance and it shows. Also he has gotten at least one boarder line pitch called a strike which is huge in a game like this.
