50 States 50 Bands

South Dakota is another one of those **** me states. So I gave up went to Wikipedia, saw one I recognized, and went here.

Tennessee is one of the states I couldn't wait to sit and think about. Nashville alone. Rather than go with some of the bigger names I could go with, I'll touch on an artist I respect. I'll probably get a WTF for this one, but I don't care.

Texas has tons of artists as well. But for me and my taste and development in music, one stands out. Nothing says Texas like Texas Blues, no one says Texas blues like Stevie Ray Vaughan, no song says Stevie Ray Vaughan more than Texas Flood.

First for Utah, **** the Osmonds, they won't make my list. So I decided to go Neon Trees, even though the only 2 songs I know by them are basically the same. Whatever.

Vermont, one band screams Vermont, not really a fan myself, but they have to go here. THough some fans of modern music would probably prefefr Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

Washington is actually the hardest state for me. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, Foo Fighters, Heart, Modest Moust, Queensryche, and so many more. I had a hard time coming up with one band and one song when it came to Washington, but I just went with my heart..

Went with the unplugged cause well, it's Eddie, he was amazing at this point in his career. But there's literally a donze amazing bands to pick on and even more influential acts

2 bands came to mind with Wisconsin for me. Violent Femmes and Bon Iver. Combination of just overall better output and being hometown heroes for our own AA I went with Bon Iver

And lastly ending on a not-state that was still literally a dozen times easier than the unpopulated states.

To me it goes to the man who's probably the greatest American Composer of all time.

Sadly due to a death in my girlriend's family i had a bit more time to work on this than I originally planned on having.

Flaming Lips? I know this is based on personal opinion but Flaming Lips over Garth Brooks? The biggest American musical act of the last 30 years. I don't like Country but the dude is the ****.

Dude sold 240,000 tickets in Ireland in 90 minutes.

I'm 1000% cheating with Rhode Island, I don't care. THere's no bands I know of from there, and only one person
My dad was in the marching band at LSU when Bill Conti was there and used to run into him in the music department. He said Conti was no slouch on the blues and ragtime piano either.

Kentucky I could have gone a few ways. I decided to go the rock route and it came down to 2 bands, My Mourning Jacket and Cage the Elephant, given the weird concert moments involving My Morning Jacket I slid to Cage the Elephant

Sleeper Agent too.

So I know I've told you this a trillion times and it obviously hasn't sunk in. Art isn't dictated by sales. Ask me to name one Garth Brooks song? I can't. I could give 2 ****s about him. Whether he sells out or not I don't care. Flaming Lips have been vastly influential to more acts than Garth Brooks who's just a shill for Nashville.

I was trying to figure out what state I accidently skipped over cause my post count was wrong for the thread, Found it.

I'm gonna cheat again, because of legendary status and one of the more influential artists on my style of writing
