Tom Glavine broke his mechanics down last night. He said everything looks extremely fluid in his delivery, but he would be worried about Wisler short arming his delivery.

Tom Glavine also thought Beachy had great mechanics when he had some of the poorest hip/shoulder separation I've ever seen in a major leaguer. I love GLavine, but after that I take his opinions on mechanics with a huge grain of salt.

You're misremembering. What I said was that I couldn't find anything obviously wrong with Hanson's mechanics because he didn't have traditional mechanics, and cautioned that just cause someone has unusual mechanics doesn't mean they're bad. When I got access to better footage of Hanson (aka frame by frame footage) you can see his timing issue that happened because of his slow, stop, fast mechanics.

You said Hanson had great mechanics. Should we take your opinion with a grain of salt?

I think the HOF pitcher would understand mechanics enough to offer insight.

Never said he had great mechanics. That's just a myth perpetrated by a select few that I would expect you not to be so dumb to fall into.

Actually a lot of pitchers don't understand mechanics. and what he's looking for may not be inefficient mechanics but repeatable,

Speaking of Justin, he's having a season much like the ones we were accustomed to. Three weeks ago he looked like he was on pace to hit 35 home runs and have an all around career season. Today, his numbers are right in line with what he did in Atlanta.

I can't quite think of another hitter that would oscillate as much between red fire hot and ice blue cold as much as him.

Well I don't honestly know what your exact words on Hanson were, but I do know that you admitted to not understanding Hanson's mechanics until you took the time to break them down frame by frame. Glavine, obviously, isn't going to do that, so I'm not going to crucify him for making a passing judgment on Wisler's injury risks. I just found it interesting that Glavine noticed how Wisler short arms the ball and how he could envision that causing problems in the future.

I admitted several times I had no real opinion on Hanson because from watching him live I couldn't see anything.

I rarely say anything about a pitcher if I have nothing to say. Minor for example almost certainly has something wrong with his mechanics because he's had shoulder issues. There's a handful of guys who I've said have great mechanics and most aren't playing now. And when you're dealing with something like mechanics where a hundreth of a second can be the difference between good and bad, sometimes you have to go to the super slow motion or ideally, frame by frame because frame by frame lets you really see everything. Only pitchers I've said seem to have good mechanics out there now (IIRC) are Price, King Felix, and Verlander. And with them it's mainly cause of their health. Verlander has something going wonky lately though. Not sure what. May be mechanics, may be hitters being used to him, may be in between his ears. Velocity is still there though.

Well that's my point. I am not going to take issue with what Glavine said because he's not going to take the time to go through Wisler's mechanics frame by frame. He was just asked by Chip what he thought of his delivery and he talked about what he noticed.

Then, what you're saying is my original statement is fine, and you just posted something unrelated.

And I can't tell if he's showing the ball to second or not. It's hard to tell from camera angles with that. It kind of looks like he is, but it's hard to say for sure.

Unrelated? I commented about what Glavine said in regards to Wisler's mechanics which you broke down in your original statement. How is that unrelated?

You presented it as counter evidence then basically said you can't expect him to be totally right because he hasn't taken the time to go through it frame by frame. And I think when Glavine is talking about short arming, he could be indicating a timing issue FWIW, It seems like when I hear people talk about short arming, they're talking about guys rushing through their delivery which happens when your arm is playing catchup to your body.

If you consider me validating your concerns by adding that Glavine was concerned with Wisler short arming the balls as "counter evidence", then fine by you. But it wouldn't be unrelated if I did disagree with you.

Not sure why we would think that. Ever since Freddi was sent to the principals office and played Jace everyday he has been awesome. From the point on he is pacing at around a 5WAR season.
