6-24 Schuster is Johnny Fever … coming to you live from WKRP

So 33% of a reliever's season, and he's had shoulder problems this year.

He absolutely could fall off the cliff but you’re basing this off essentially a 2 week stretch where he’s had some bad homerun luck.

Overall, his strikeouts are up and his walks are flat. Once the BABIP and homerun rate stabilize, he will be fine.

I want this. I wanna have him enter a game and my BP not go up

I'm still puzzled why Shuster was a first rounder. He's not awful but his stuff is so, so pedestrian.

Shuster doesn't fit the mold of AA picks so I went back and reread draft stuff on him. He benefitted hugely from the pandemic. He showed off in the Cape Cod league, somehow reaching the mid 90s with his fastball. The pandemic then shortened the college season and prevented a lot of normal pre-draft happenings. This led the Braves to take a chance on his Cape Cod velocity increase being real.

It wasn't. He's a classic crafty lefty with a back end of the rotation ceiling. Still, can't be too mad as he has some utility and we hit it big with Strider later in the same draft.

This group would whine about winning the lottery because they had to pay tax. Game threads are comedy gold with all the fringe lunatics running around here. 🤣 Imagine this place when the Braves window shuts and they start losing 90-100 games again. It will be gloriously awful.

I think we thrived more on the misery than the success. That’s why we’re like this.

Hit it big with Strider, and seemingly hit on Elder, too, who’s starting to stabilize and seem less purely smoke and mirrors. That we’re getting fifth-starter innings out of Shuster, and can still dream a little on Franklin V, is a pretty tremendous haul.

Yeah, that draft was ridiculous. 4 picks and 3 are contributing now.

What do you mean. This board was a great place to be between the time we traded Heyward and Acuna being called up.

Board was flooded with the following sentiments

“Gohara is the next Sabathia”
“Jace Peterson is a future perennial 4 WAR player”
“We have 8 future TOR pitchers”

Very optimistic place actually. The only person subject to any hate was Markakis lol

Check the “Is there anything good?” thread. It was posted right before AA was hired. A lot of us liked the talent that was being stockpiled, but were skeptical on the trajectory of the franchise under the old guard.

For real, his BABIP has to be insane over the last few weeks. Sooooo many weak base hits. Yes, his location has also been lacking, but everything is amplified by the fact that when he does draw weak contact, it's falling in for a hit or it's hit to our worst defender (Rosario).

I recall there being a certain bet that Markakis would have a higher OBP than Heyward. Certainly didn't see that coming. I also recall thethe claiming non-stop his power would return. He just couldn't work out the previous off-season due to his injury, lol. Also about how a team that didn't hit any homers was way more fun to watch because we made more contact.....

Ahhh, the good ole days.

So do we like the Met's offense or this years Brave's offense. That would be comparing a team that loves power and a team that likes to just put the ball in play.. how are those teams doing respectively.

Braves are 8th in k rate this season. Obviously, if you can have power and contact, you'll be good
