6/26 GDT: Keuchel at Cubs

The Braves are currently in (and probably on the tail end of) quite a long winning streak - 30-13 in their last 43. Those kind of streaks don't tend to last much longer, but I think if the Braves can put together another more modest streak (maybe 20-11 or something like that), they should be okay for the playoffs.

I'll have to go back and check, but I remember the consensus being that Mac was fine assuming the money they saved was used somewhere else and/or JD wasn't the only big acquisition.

Now it looks like a large chunk of that saved money brought in DK, so there isn't really much to complain about at all.

Nope, but we are lucky that we were able to get to July with the rotation we had. Definitely helps that our division rivals have all fallen flat on their faces.

100 wins? Come on, dude.

I still think this is an 85-90 win team unless we can find some answers in the rotation.

They'd have to go 37-44 to win 85. We may have problems in the rotation, but it's still a good team that's almost certainly going to win 90. Maybe more.

I would say the Braves have been incredibly unlucky in the pitching department. Their ability to maintain a MLB average rotation in the face of all of that unexpected adversity is more a testament to the depth of arms they have in the system than anything else.

With a little luck enough of those arms will be going strong down the stretch.

I disagree. I think we've performed more or less to my expectation, so I would say that we didn't get lucky, but haven't really been unlucky either.

We went into the season with huge question marks next to all of our starters. Guasman and Folty had nearly no track record for the success they had last year, but you could call their season so far "unlucky". Julio is Julio, but who knew how he'd respond to getting left out of the post season picture, but he's been critical to our success so far this season. Most expected Soroka to take the jump he has, but his question mark was always health. Max has probably exceeded expectations to this point and has been a large part of how we lasted this long with a patchwork rotation, but he's inconsistent at best right now. Newk was never in the picture for me, but glad he's helped solidify the pen. Touki was never in the picture for me either this season.

Gausman didn't have a track record that backed up his 2.3 fWAR in 2018?

That's certainly news to me, thanks for sharing.

I meant that he didn't have a track record for what he did in ATL last year, not his overall season, but thanks for interjecting with that "know it all" attitude that we all love.

Anyway, the Braves expected him to be our #2 starting pitcher. That wasn't smart and hard to play off as "unlucky".

What he did in Atlanta last year was produce a 3.78 FIP and a 4.46 xFIP...values exactly in line with his career norms considering it was over 59 IP.

The only people who had unrealistic expectations for Gausman were folks fooled by the 2.87 ERA. Everyone else knew exactly what he was.

Oh, and the people who thought he had a "bad walk ratio" for the Braves were also a little...wrong.

Those are the people I was referring to, the ones who were OK with him being our #2 starter.

Again, I meant K/BB ratio and not walk ratio. I'll be the first to say that I've learned a lot being here. You, on the other hand, are just a f asshole.

Clear violation of the treaty. I have tattled to the proper authorities and expect a banning.

Have a nice day, and good luck with moving boxes.

What treaty?

I believe you violated first, considering you provoked me with your same old schtick of bring stuff up that is typically out of context and very old anyway. That's the stuff that was supposed to stop and it clearly hasn't and without your obvious provocation, this discussion doesn't even occur.

If they want to ban me, that's fine, but it's obvious that you're the problem and not me.

The Ceasefire Armistice Treaty Accords Agreement is stickied.

If Enscheff provokes you, you have the right to report the post. If you do not report the post and engage in a back and forth your first strike will give up the right to complain about him for 24 hours.

Understood. Will just report him next time.

Technically, I should be able to report him every time he posts since he keeps said provocation saved in his signature.
