I think its a huge stretch to say his defense has looked elite so far. At this point his UZR/150 is 8.8, which is 6th in the majors and his "defensive runs saved" is 2, which is 13th in the majors (compared to the leader at 9 runs saved) Part of the issue is averageish range despite his speed (24 plays on balls out of the zone so far) He hasn't made errors so far so that's a good thing, but I do think there have been some balls a great defender would have gotten to that he hasn't and he's flubbed some double play balls that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. He seems to be more comfortable going right than going left.
