7/1 GDT …..

I really hope it’s not true, but a buddy who works in the organization told me Schwelly might be hurt and could be heading to the IL soon. He’s given me some solid info in the past — he had Hyers and Fredi Gonzalez before it was public — but he’s also been off before. Fingers crossed it’s nothing, and if it is, hopefully it’s minor.

Hopefully not because it just gives management another excuse. "injuries" just like last season.

If it’s serious we might be forced to do at least a mini-rebuild. Not going to be able to compete with so many holes to fill in the rotation and along with holes in the lineup even if our core guys rebound. And we don’t have the prospects to come up and fill those holes either.
 
Why do I get this feeling that Snit is going to go 1 more year (announced right after the season) to get to 50 years within the organization -- and also an excuse for him to parade around city by city getting gifts from other teams like Bobby and Chipper did.

I just don't understand hiring Hyers when, essentially, your boss/manager is a "lame duck" with 1 year left. Unless Hyers was feeling the heat in Texas, I don't get it.

Absolutely agree. I hope it's not true, but losing Schwelly would essentially take our playoff chances from 5% to 0.00001%. The team is undoubtedly unperforming, but losing 3/5 of your starting rotation is hard to overcome no matter what.
 
Am enjoying the SD Philly game right now- bases loaded in second inning and Philly has walked in two runs so far - SD is up 2-0 without recording a hit…
 
And machado with a double 5-0 SD…

I don’t even remember what it feels like to score 5 runs in an inning anymore. I know we did it to the Mets, but that feels more like a fever dream.

Maybe Profar will spark Acuna, and the two of them together will spark Harris… I mean looking around the outfield at two other guys who are raking might just snap him out of it - if the proverbial “hitting is contagious” proves true and just maybe for the next month we will get an actual look at how the lineup was supposed to perform as originally drawn up in the off-season…. (Or, the converse: Sucking is contagious and Profar goes in the tank to new career lows)

But being buyers would be moronic….. maybe we run with what we got and see if we can catch the third wildcard spot- get Sale back, and go to war in October with Sale, Schwelley (assuming he’s not actually hurt), and Strider and win the WS.
