7/14 GDT

I just don't get it. The Braves have like a 3% chance of making the playoffs right now after playing the 29th best SOS (would be last if the Nationals didn't have to play Atlanta). Unless the team magically goes 12-5, 13-4 over these next 17, there's really no shot to go to the playoffs. I wish they'd stop playing towards the casual fan, but I know they realize that that is who is paying for their tickets, food, gear, etc. in the new stadium. I wish they would go ahead and start tearing down what you can and get what you can. Snitker managing for a 2018 and beyond job is not what this franchise needs. It needs to develop naturally, and I hope it is under new management next year. I'm no fan of Ron Washington because he is like a Bobby/Fredi/Snitker in that he manages on his gut and uses no advanced stats. The problem in the capacity is the front office who want the good ol' boys managing when their time was passed around 2005.

It behooves him to do what the decision makers want. I expect the message from the top is that we're still in this and we need to do anything we can to win.

I'm guessing the FO is on the hot seat with respect to one thing...revenue this year. And by FO, I mean everyone, including the pencil necks counting beans above Coppy's pay grade.

Those guys made the new ballpark happen. Those guys will be fired if the Braves draw under 2.5 million (or whatever number they projected for revenue growth) this year. Those guys want the Braves to win now and drive attendance.

And that has trickled all way down to roster construction.

they didn't make budget last year...
they have to this year....not making budget has real consequences....even for a baseball team...but I think this is a much larger issue that goes to things well beyond tonight's lineup card
