Worth waiting for?

Tyler Neslony, the last Atlanta Brave (so far) to sign, did not make his professional debut until July 3rd with the Danville Braves. We had no idea that we'd been waiting for him to arrive.

The Braves' ninth round pick out of CWS entry Texas Tech, Neslony had two hits and an RBI in his pro debut, and five games in he merely has a .500 average (8 for 16) with a homer and three doubles. He's a lefty hitter and one worth watching.

Talk on Twitter about Max Povse being promoted to Mississippi.

That team is loaded with starters already.
(Sims/Whalen/Newcomb) wonder who gets the boot out of the starting lineup... or did I hear mateo was placed on DL???

Povse been struggling a little bit of late.

Time to move Weigel and possibly Fried up to Carolina. Carolina is the one team that is relatively barren in pitching talent right now.

You could probably even argue bumping Soroka, although I'm totally fine with him finishing the year at Rome.

It'll be interesting to see who replaces Povse though after Weigel had a rough start last night and Fried is on the DL.

Jed Bradley is slated to start tomorrow. Andrew Thurman goes on Sunday, and he has been terrible lately. Gotta think it would be one of those two that Povse replaces.

I think Weigel will get bumped up at some point and Allard or someone else off the Danville staff will move up to Rome. I expect to see a couple of the GCL guys in Danville, although I think Anderston, Wentz, and Muller will be in the GCL all season.

Yeah. I would let Soroka finish the season at Rome. I think they need to bump Weigel and Fried up, and then put Allard and Wentz in the Rome rotation for the rest of the season.

Yeah Anderson, Wentz and Muller will be interesting. I did see a tweet from the local newspaper in Anderson's town that he will be activated on Sunday, although GCL doesn't play on Sunday.

Soroka threw in only four games (10 innings) for the GCL team last year before they pushed him to Danville, and he threw 24 innings at Danville to close the year. I wonder if they'll go that route with any of the trio they drafted this year.

Derian Cruz gets some love in the Helium Watch section of Baseball America's weekly Hot Sheet. Some high praise from Ben Badler:

Derian Cruz, ss, Braves: Yes, the Braves just committed a ton of dough to international free agents last week, but don’t forget about the key players they snagged on July 2 last year. Both Cruz and center fielder Cristian Pache are off to hot starts in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League as 17-year-olds, with Cruz tied for third in the league at total bases and hitting .370/.370/.587 through 10 games. Signed for $2 million as the No. 5 international prospect available last year, Cruz is an explosive athlete with premium speed and solid contact skills, with the bat speed and physical projection to grow into 10-15 home runs down the road. It will be interesting to see if he sticks at SS long term or if he ends up becoming something else.

What's the word on Harrington? I keep waiting to see his name.

He's still trying to put the moves on Ann Romano. Seriously, RIP Pat Harrington, Jr.

Derian Cruz RBI single in the third. It came off a 24-year-old, who is Pittsburgh's No. 12 prospects and rehabbing.

Wilson walked the leadoff batter before striking out the next two and getting a ground out to end the inning.
