720 Minors Report: Where's Gus Schlosser?

Where's Gus Schlosser?

The Braves' Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2012, the big side-armer is missing in action for the month of July. The right-hander last pitched on July 2nd -- the day he was announced as Southern League all-star.

His numbers point towards a pitcher wanting to win another POY: 6-2, 2.36, and his last start was typical Schlosser (six innings, six hits, one run).

Schlosser did not pitch in the SL all-star game. He is not in the rotation through the end of the Braves' current series with Jackson (Thomas, Northcraft, Moran are announced). He has not been suspended; he has not been put on the DL; not promoted (though he surely deeerved it). I find no announcement from the club or the Braves or from any of the alleged "insiders" who post everywhere.

If Schlosser is merely being rested because of his 95-inning workload, then it make some sort of sense -- even though his delivery is one of those that almost seems to defy wear and tear. But if there's something wrong ... on the heels of J.R. Graham's lingering injury, then that is a major hit on the farm system.
------------
And while we're asking, where's Cory Gearrin? He has not pitched for Gwinnett since being demoted from Atlanta on July 4th. He has not been put on the disabled list, either, and the Gwinnett roster has always listed him as active.

The Braves have been historically lazy/incompetent in parsing out this kind of information, but what the hey people???

Robby Hefflinger needs a double for the cycle through 6 inning

He has had a dreadful start following his AA promotion. HOpefully this puts him back on track and he can become the third or fourth piece to a trade in the offseason.

MiLB has added this morning Schlosser will start second game of Monday's twin-bill. Still love to know the why.

Its very possible the Braves thought they were close to a deal which involved him and the opposing team asked to hold him back. Now that deal might be dead.
