Ready to take a break.
I really like what I've seen from Sobotka so far. I'd really like to see him get some more innings out of the pen this year. He looks good enough to be an option for us in September and possibly the playoffs.
Enscheff do you have any data on his stuff from that first appearance? I'd like to see it
Go dig up the discussion. After you quote me out of context I'll list out everything that was said.
Projection systems have him right around a .340 BABIP, so I'm guessing I said something along the lines of, ".320 is most likely, .340 is possible, but nowhere close to the .400 mark he has put up in the minors".
This Acuna is the guy I think we all expected. Hell, he’s been better recently than I even expected
The Braves have 2 SPs and a full BP to complete 18 innings today.
The ideal usage scenario for Allard is to complete 2-3 low leverage innings while facing the line up 1 time. That exact scenario has presented itself, and Allard was not used. It was incorrect BP usage.
It is stupid to hold back the mop up guy from pitching mop up innings just in case he is needed to pitch future mop up innings.
Okay, we're seeing some of Sobotka's wildness now.
Pitch trax seems to show Sobotka getting squeezed. Is that the case?
I disagree. Allard is undependable.
You want to avoid using him in any situation where you would feel any pressure to pull him.
If he comes in and gets shelled the same way he was shelled the previous two times he pitched, you likely would have to pull him. And you not only haven't saved your pen, you've burned the only sacrificial lamb you have in your pen to cover the contingency of Folty coming out earlier than expected.
Which ordinarily is not a terrible thing but the Braves have something of a schedule problem.
You only want Allard in the game in long relief if you are ok with losing today, IMO.
One inning pitcher?
So you're ok throwing him in a situation in which, let's say, Folty goes 4 and gives up 6 and has to come out...but not when we're up 7 late? Against Miami, I wouldn't want to concede the first situation...and it's incredibly unlikely he would blow the second.
