Everyone probably already knew this but I muted the TV and turned on the Braves radio broadcast on the computer--just to hear Sutton and Powell's take on things for a change. Had to turn the radio broadcast off because it was a pitch or two ahead of what the television was showing.

It's been like that for a couple of years. If the broadcasts were lined up I'd listen to Sutton a lot more.

If Swisher doesn't show some life soon I'd cut bait with him after this season. Bourn can at least be a 4th outfielder and mentor to Mallex Smith. But it seems Swisher doesn't have much or enough left in the tank, esp. considering his limitations on defense too.

Can we just DFA him? I know we're stuck with his salary but I'd rather have a better player on the 25 man roster, which doesn't seem like it'd be very hard to do.

Sure, we can DFA and release him. But since it isn't far from Sept. I figured they'd keep him around through the end of the season. Then again maybe not if he continues to show nothing.

At his current one for 13 pace on a team that struggles offensively like we do, we simply can't have two pitchers' batting averages in the lineup.

Nice to get into their bullpen early in the first game of the series. Hopefully, we can reap the benefits of wearing down their relievers tomorrow and Sunday.

One small nuance I just happened to catch--did you see how Arizona's pitcher actually touched first base after taking the throw from Goldschmidt? Amazing attention to detail on the Diamondbacks' part. (Yeah, I'm still pissed about the clown show the Braves staged in the bottom of the seventh on Wednesday night.)
