That was a bad play there, but let's be real honest, the entire infield is struggling lately.
Every time somebody points out a lapse in Dansby's defensive abilities, there's a nanosecond wait until someone posts about how high his advanced defensive metrics are.

Culberson is hitting .429 vs Vargas, small sample of course. But Swanson looked terrible against him striking out there. Suzuki three run homer was key in beating Vargas last time we faced him here. I was hoping one of the two if not both would get another shot at him.
Are you saying he’s not a good defensive SS?

Unless Vargas is set on fire, this game has already become worse than game 2 vs him. Multiple guys have had horrendous swings vs him already.
Let me just say that, in spite of the metrics that say otherwise, I'm just not all that overwhelmed by his defensive abilities.
Then we have nothing further to discuss.

We were so spoiled by Andrelton... and his way below market value contract.
Just goes to show you how equally important defense is. Acuna cost us a run (as well as Dans).
