8/2 GDT @Mets

Big hit Camargo, Camargo just missed a three run homer that went foul last time here vs Vargas and went 0-4. But he got him this time.

I think some of the new defensive positioning is helping Swanson (and it's helping some other people too, like Nick Markakis), but it's not all that. A lot of his defensive errors were bad hands, things like that. He cleaned that up for the most part but it's slipping again a little in the last few weeks.

Then we have nothing further to discuss.

To me, Dansby generally makes the plays he's supposed to make but the challenging to difficult plays elude him. The classic test of an above average SS is the ability to throw out a runner at first from deep in the hole. If Dansby's done that, I don't recall. As I said, I'm more than willing to hear arguments that say otherwise and I readily concede that his advanced metrics contradict my observations.

Yea, Braves defensive positioning now has helped but Swanson has improved too. He was -7 DRS last year and is at 10 DRS so far this year. That is a big improvement and part of that is the new Braves brass and also Swanson cleaning things up from last year.

If we know one thing, it’s that teams are relying more and more on the eye tests of people like you rather than advanced metrics when evaluating defense.

Oh wait...

Same on strike 3.

Looked like a totally different pitch than his 4 seamer I’ve seen so much of.

Look I already conceded it had all the fallibility of the "eye test"--okay?
