MOVES:

GWINNETT: Jed Bradley promoted from Mississippi; Portuondo to Miss.; Texiera on DL
Kotteras released
MISSISSIPPI: Weigel promoted from Rome
CAROLINA: Andrew Thurman released (previously reported)
ROME: Jon Kennedy moved from Danville

I'm pretty sure Kyle Muller was on schedule to start today, but Ramon Taveras is the GCL starter. Wonder if Muller is heading to Danville?

Patrick Weigel promoted to . . . Mississippi. What? Also, Jed Bradley to AAA. I wish I understood the through process on some of these moves. Maybe they're not cray about the pitching instruction at Carolina?

The Day after the Night of the Pitchers

Sounds convoluted but ultimately spooky.

Both are interesting players. It looks as if they want to challenge Weigl with age appropriate competition. I'm curious how he will handle it.

Bradley is exciting. Former first round pick who might have had things click for him this year.

To be fair, AA is more age appropriate for Weigel than high A anyway. Though the AA coach does seem to be the guy for turning guys around (see Sims), so that could definitely play a role.

Does not speak well for the future of Derrick Lewis, pitching coach at Carolina, even though he has been in Braves' system for something like 13 years.

Nice start for Bradley in AAA with nine strikeouts in six innings. Very interesting guy to follow.

Agreed, he's seems to have found something. I suspect the FO's decision to move him to AAA is an indication that they're at least considering a 40-man spot for him. He's never had his contract purchased that I can see, so he'd have the full complement of options. It's still a big long shot, but he's a left handed pitcher in an organization that is hungry for MLB-ready LH starters, and he has somewhat of a pedigree as a former first round pick.

Great night on the farm!

Some really nice nights. Jeremy Walker in Danville has piqued my interest. Solid start from him tonight. From what I've read about him, he's a big kid who added a few ticks to his fastball this spring. Good to see Cruz pick it up a little.

They were rippin' in Rome. Nice nights for Didder and Riley (and Castro with a grand slam).
