8/22/14 Braves @ Reds 7:10 ET

We're just a few games ahead of Pitts and Miami so I don't see how you can rule out McCutchen and Stanton. Stanton's having the best year, he'll probably win. Goldy's done with an injury so scratch him.

Miami is 1 game over .500 and -18 run differential. They are going to finish around .500. Pittsburg has a 0 run differential and should finish close to .500 as well. Sure Stanton can still win but if a deserving candidate emerges on a playoff team the MVP should go to that player. And right now Upton and Puig have that going for them.

So Fredi giving Heyward a night off against Mike Leake.

Heyward is one of our best hitters against righties. Fredi sits him.

Heyward is one of our best hitters against lefties. Fredi plays him.

I just don't know what goes through his head.

I dont get sitting him while he's hitting well, and we dont have much margin for error.

That lineup looks like he made it while he was drunk. LaStella and Simmons should be flip-flopped, Gattis and CJ should be flip-flopped, and BJ should be on the pine with Heyward in there. Maybe Heyward is dinged up and we don't know it or something.

Apparently it's just a day off since he's 0-10 against Leake. I agree though, we should at least be seeing:
Boni
La Stella
Freeman
JUP
Gattis
Cjoh
Simmons
BJ

Pretty sure Braves will see another RH pitcher before 2015.

Why the inordinate love for LaStella?

He's a nice player but not to be confused with Robnson Cano

I have a question for anybody that knows. The Nats/Giants game is starting late on Fox Sports One. Our game is on Fox Sports One as well later. Will we have to wait until this game is over to see ours or is there a Fox Sports One alternate channel?

Because he isn't a free swinging low OBP guy like we run out there at other positions. It's a very very welcomed addition for an offense that struggles to score runs. Makes perfect sense.

Good question.

Might get screwed.

Or we'll have to wait until that ones over.

Maybe FS2 would pick it up until the other game ends? I doubt it and more than likely the first game goes into extra innings and we only see four innings of our game.

No but both show that by the end of the season both teams should be near .500 which means they won't be in contention. And MVP voters give a lot of love to players who are on teams that make the playoffs or just miss it. I think Stanton and Cutch being on .500 teams means they don't get many votes unless they just blow the rest of the field out of the water with stats. And Stanton is very capable of that. And baring that happening I think that leaves Puig and Upton. Of course the Braves have to be in it till the end for that to matter for Upton.

Nats up 5-2 at the moment.

Hard to say with the MVP stuff.

Kemp had a better year than Braun a few years ago and didnt win it because of record.

Justin's MVP chances will depend on his RBI total. A big RBI total on a bad offensive team will get votes. Kind of like Freeman last year.
