Yeah for like a couple of seasons. Maddux is all generational. I would argue he's the best pitcher...period.

I just wish Maddux' postseason record weren't so lackluster, otherwise he'd be even closer to the top of that particular discussion.

Yeah. He never got a ton of run support and his ERA is quite isn't that bad considering the era he was in and the level of competition in the playoffs. But yeah it wasn't on a level like Smoltz was.

Fatigue was already an issue this season as he adjusts to his first full season. He's never played in this many games before in a year.

I've only been watching baseball for 35 years, since the Braves' division win in '82, but Maddux was easily the best in my lifetime. I agree he was probably the best of all time. He was clearly the most cerebral. Even when he lacked his best stuff, he often could out think hitters and make them look bad.
