8/24 GDT: Wednesday duel in the D-back desert; Teheran starts, Swanson sits

I remember when people wanted to trade Ender so badly. Quoting his splits and overlooking his obvious injury and transitional period to Atlanta. Now, his home/away and lefty/righty splits are leveling out and he's hitting .294 as our lead off man. Love it!

Markakis is hitting .322 post All-Star break too

Inciarte post-AS has been amazing.

I think it's just he's healthy. In his career (347 games), he has 11.6 WAR. That avg's out to 5.4 WAR per 162 games. Inciarte could end up being the best piece we got in the Miller trade. By comparison, heyward has 32 WAR in 946 games (5.5 war per 162 games).

I wish I would've watched the game. It seems like Nick is playing himself on to the 2017 roster more and more. There's no reason to go out and pay a guy like Reddick 5/75 when you have a poor man's version for 2/22.

Yes sir. He's been awesome and his clubhouse personality is fantastic. I love the idea of Albies hitting leadoff, but I think keeping Inciarte there and moving Albies to the number two spot really opens up the lineup. Plus we have Mallex in the 9-spot to turn the lineup over with a high-OBP (we hope) and speed.

Inciarte CF
Albies 2B
Freeman 1B
Kemp LF
Swanson SS
Markakis RF
Garcia 3B
Flowers C
Teheran
M. Smith RF

That's probably our opening day lineup as of now. Is it good? Not really, but add a bat or two and it could be solid.
Albies

With Inciarte showing what he is when healthy really helps the offensive outlook going forward. That slides one of Swanson or Albies down the lineup to make us that much deeper. Also Markakis finishing strong could bring us back a nice piece in the offseason.

Mallex and Markakis should cover a lot of ground together in RF. Lol

I don't have television coverage, but I went to bed thinking a comeback would be possible. Good to see this team playing with a little bit of life. Inciarte is the real deal and I can't believe a contender wouldn't take a look at Markakis (if he has indeed cleared waivers). Seems that whatever bug Vizcaino had got picked up by Krol.

I wish we could have gotten Braun instead of Kemp, I'd feel a lot better about the offense. But they will definitely add one more bat this offseason probably at catcher.

That is one of the bigger gaps in fangraphs/BR WAR I can remember. Wow.
