8/25... Going for the split vs DBacks

Early read on watching Swanson at SS . . . doesn't have elite range, but has good fundamentals and footwork to go along with a solid arm. Even if he's a bottom-of-the-order hitter in the short run, brings enough defense and base running value to be an everyday regular right out of the gate.

Due to the position he plays, he can't help but be compared to Simmons who IMO was the best defensive SS I recall seeing in an Atlanta uniform. It may be an unrealistically high defensive bar for him to be held. He certainly looked solid (at least) on his play in the last inning.

he will never be Simmons defensively.. not sure another will ever come around. And that is not an insult to Swanson!!!

Yeah, I think he's likely to have similar value to Simmons, but with a little less of that value coming from defense.
