8/26 FRIDAY MINORS THREAD: BIG night for Braves; League leaders

Allard since he returned to Rome: 7 GS, 42.1 IP, 32 H, 11 ER, 11 BB, 46 K. Dominant, and he's going consistently 6 IP in just about every start, and 5 of those ER came in one start.

He actually pitched well in his last start in Rome before going to Danville...

5.0 ip 3 h 0 er 0 bb 5 k

I didn't understand dropping him after such a nice start. Allard proved that last start was no fluke

Again, I'm not sure it was a demotion. I think they probably planned to send him to Danville all along, but he was ready before they started so they let him pitch a few in Rome first.

Maybe it wasn't a demotion, but dropping a kid a level when his numbers were bad sure seems like a demotion.

The Danville season hadn't started yet, and his numbers weren't that bad. Demoting a kid you decided was ready after 3 starts, the latest of which was good, would be bizarre. The far more likely scenario is that they planned to send him to Danville all along.
