I remember a lot of hand-wringing last deadline when the Braves picked up all of Melancon's 2020 salary. I don't think he's a bona fide closer anymore, but the Braves have gotten value out of him.

Yeah, he gives up a lot of hits for a closer. On the other hand...Will Smith is giving up dingers regularly right now.

Glad we got the win AND are done with the Phils. I hate them, I hate that ballpark. I hate the air horns.

I remember a lot of hand-wringing last deadline when the Braves picked up all of Melancon's 2020 salary. I don't think he's a bona fide closer anymore, but the Braves have gotten value out of him.

I was shocked we gave up anything and took on all of his salary. I figured it would take a guy like Beck for him and SF ate half. Or we'd get him for a PTBNL and we take the whole lot. Solid trade but I was very surprised at the time. I'd take him back next year at a very small number if Snit isn't requiring him to close.
