It's really really hard not to be excited about Swanson. Dude is as solid of a major league hitter as we've seen from a guy coming up in a while.

The myth of lineup protection has already been debunked by guys much smarter than Chip and Joe.

It's typical blather these announcers constantly spew. Freeman, Markakis, and Inciarte was hitting before Kemp got to Atlanta. Kemp is better than Frenchy, so he improved the lineup. He didn't make any of the hitters around him better.

They are not saying very well, but I think that is what they are actually saying. Not that the other guys are better, but that a pitcher has to view the lineup differently because he can't be ignored without the risk that he could hurt you.

Swanson's looked great so far. It'll be interesting to see how he responds to the inevitable adjustments ML pitchers make to him. If he gets past that (which some players don't) he's going to be around for awhile.

Yep, we're getting #2 after all that hard work and terribleness.

At least some of our "future" guys are looking good - Julion, Freddie, Ender, and Dansby (also Folty depending on the day and Mallex before injury).

A shot at a 13-15 August with only 3 Julio starts and 2 Wisler starts is progress - no matter what areas you want to point to as being responsible for that improvement.
