A belated thank-you to Braves 10th-round pick Stephen Moore, who has moved on to serve our country as a U.S. Naval Academy graduate. Braves got the most out of him that they could, as he pitched in nine games at Danville between June 23 and July 24 (2-0, 164 ERA) and did not allow an earned run over his last 9.1 innings. If and when the time arrives, he will be most welcome.

And Bethancourt picks off a runner at 2B. Thats the type of defense we need to see in the majors from him. EYJ single handidly losing the game for AAA Braves, botched 2 DP's in first 2 innings. Think they miss Peraza?

Gant strikes out the side in the first. He has the oddest stutter step to begin his pitching motion. If there are runners on base thats going to be a balk me thinks, maybe he changes in the stretch.

edit - Yeah its a regular delivery in the stretch. His normal delivery is weird in that he picks his leg up and turns into the stretch, putting the foot back down, then pitches. Why not just start in the stretch?

Good grief, Gant. It's obviously only two starts in, but so far it's looking like we may have found something real here.

Looking back, he's had a weird career. Drafted late out of HS but signed, but struggled and didn't really get out of rookie ball his first two years. Then was in short-season A ball in his 2nd full year and pitched well but at 20 years old. Never pitched in Low A until last year at 21 and put up good numbers but wasn't overly dominant.

But then he looked really, really good in A+ to start this year, was promoted to AA, and seemed to plateau and wasn't really striking out many guys. But through 2 starts in Mississippi now, he's pitched 11.2 IP with 3 H allowed, 0 runs, and 16 Ks. If he keeps pitching anywhere near that level, given what he did in A+, he definitely becomes a real prospect.

But, but, BUT BUT BUT BUT BUT i thought Gant and Whalen were bums?!?!?!?!

At least thats what was said when we dealt Juan/KJ.

Non trolling aside, good outing from Gant, unlike some, i was gonna wait to see how they pitch instead of call the FO bums who've done a pretty decent job in trades so far.

Anyone who has an issue with pretty much any return for Uribe and KJ is kind of nuts.

Hardly anyone went after Johnson in FA, and we got Uribe for peanuts. Those were not big assets. I'm more than happy with the return we got for them.

Gant 60 strikes in 87 pitches today. That stats always a little misleading when you count the balls a pitcher throws as strikes if the hitter swings and misses on a ball outside the strike zone.

I agree with you, alot of people on here thought we should of got more for them.

Getting two extra pitchers is fine, for whatever reason alot, wont name who, thought we should of gotten some high upside prospect for them.
