Not to be a jerk about it, but even after the link, perhaps a paraphrase or gist of the information would have been a better response. No biggie about the pay wall.

Wasn't much to it. Explained that the upside is still there and it's understandable (from the writer's point of view) why they chose to keep him. That the pieces are still there for him to become the everyday guy they hoped he could turn into when they were able to buy so low on him. How lots of people felt he was well on his way down that path when he first came over, and that last year could have just as easily been a blip as it was a signal that he's never going to reach his ceiling. Mainly that he's just that type of player that you give every opportunity to put things together that you possibly can because the potential payoff is so big - he didn't directly reference Folty/Newk but that type of inference was evident.

More or less explaining that given the fact that the choices wound up being A-Jax over McCreery/Sanchez/several others that it was probably a pretty easy choice since that roster spot wasn't going to kill you - give him another year and see if he bounces back since you're not going to need him on the big club at any point this year.
