A question if the Braves seek another arm

What (or who) would Bethancourt bring in a deal? I am not eager to give him up, but I am comfortable that Gattis can be serviceable behind the plate for a number of years to come.

Who needs a catcher badly enough to cough up a big league rotation-caliber arm?
 
Okay so who needs Bethancourt, a good minor-league arm or two, and one or two of our scrubs battling for a bench position?
 
You spend all that money on extensions this off-season, then the Santana money plus the lost draft pick, now, what kind of pitcher do you want to fill Beachey.s spot?

If you move Bethancourt it almost has to be to an AL team to cover his weak bat.

As to your above post: Give nothing get nothing>
 
There's plenty of teams that could use a catcher. Rangers need a good young catcher. Bethancourt for Darvish? LOL! J/K!

Aren't you advocating trading for a pitcher? Thought you posted several names. I'm asking what Bethancourt, Hale, maybe someone like Hursch, and Terdo, might get. Maybe that's nothing worth pursuing.

I dont think that group would bring very much in return. None of them are proven. This team is a contender but with Medlen down (I know Santana takes his place) unless Teheran or Minor really take a leap then we are stretched pretty thin. The group you mentioned here would better serve the Braves in Gwinnett and hope to pick up a waiver wire arm who would pretty much equal what they would bring in trade.

The names I posted on another thread if I am correct in your relating were Samardzjia, Porcello and Lackey. All are continually mentioned as trade subjects. But you cant get them for what you are advocating.

I think that group could bring in a solid #3-4 guy, personally.
 
This is interesting speculation. I mean, we've got to be looking at pitching. We're fairly poor in prospects. Where do we go from here?

People keep talking about Minor and Teheran taking the next step but I really don't know what more they have to do to "take that next step".

Teheran's last 27 starts. 169 2/3 IP, 152 H, 56 R, 53 ER, 17 HR, 38 BB, 158 SO, 2.81 ERA

Minor last 15 starts of 2012. 93 2/3 IP, 63 H, 24 R, 23 ER, 8 HR, 18 BB, 73 SO, 2.21 ERA
Minor's 2013 season. 32 Starts. 204 2/3 IP, 177 H, 79 R, 73 ER, 22 HR, 46 BB, 181 SO, 3.21 ERA

So Minor's last 47 starts. 298 1/3 IP, 240 H, 103 R, 96 ER, 30 HR, 64 BB, 254 SO, 2.90 ERA

I don't know. Maybe I'm just more impressed with both pitchers than others are.

Health and the ability to repeat. Minor is a lot closer than Teheran.
