Nothing. But, a team going no where who has a solid 3 might deal him for those guys to hopefully get younger players, and hope some work out. It happens.
Really tired of the "he hasn't proven anything" argument. The best players are only proven as far as the next injury. Teams make educated guesses on players with potential all the time. If you don't, you have only hindsight on which to judge.
Hindsight is 20/20. Even the teams with unlimited budgets end up with dead weight. I think there are many teams who would trade a player they don't need because they are not competitive now for 3-4 guys who have the potential to become MLB regulars.
Some will, some won't, but you take the chance to get better.
