Actual Music Artist

so now zito is a psychiatrist.
everything you say is an opinion. same with me. yours is certainly no better than mine.

Never said I was a psychiatrist. If he didn't like the media why does he constantly put himself in the spotlight?

he's a celebrity. by definition he's in the spotlight.
and like i said, he makes himself an easy target, on accident or on purpose as you would claim. he gets asked questions, answers them, and they're sometimes controversial. a lot of the times though i wouldn't even say he's "in the spotlight" anymore than most celebrities. he certainly has his moments, but he's a polarizing figure. they will get more attention whether they strongly desire it or not.

I think he's in the spotlight way more than other celebrities. Kanye more than once has generated unnecessary attention to himself when he hasn't had to. He chooses to go for the attention. Because it's what keeps him in the news it keeps him relevant. He doesn't want to be say Mos Def or any other number of talented acts who went away because they couldn't stay relevant. He keeps himself relevant by constantly staying in the news. You can disagree with that, but be honest with yourself, since Graduation, what has he really done in the rap game? 808s you've already said isn't "hip-hop"

Wait, why does his music have to be considered hip-hop? He keeps making music. I don't understand comparing Mos and Ye at all. They are totally different in pretty much every way.
What has he done in the rap game since graduation? Uh, plenty. WTF are you talking about? In the music industry, he's done a ton since then. I don't understand what 808s not being hip-hop has to do with anything we're discussing. You're grasping at straws here.
He's been in the spotlight a few times over the years for various things. Bush comments, Swift, Beck.
He keeps himself relevant in a lot of ways. I am "being honest with myself," he mostly stays relevant because he keeps putting out (good) music.
I don't even think you know what you're talking about anymore. Your comparisons and assertions are lazy and incorrect.

I think it's fairly obvious Kanye likes being the center of attention. From the stunts that the pulls, to the absolutely absurd/weird comments he makes. Now part of it may simply be good marketing by him. More media exposure = more money. But it's quite clear he likes the attention.

Well he considers him a hip-hop artist? So wouldn't releasing a rubbish album like Yeezus be bad? If Pearl Jam released a killer EDM album then just shat the bed in the Alt-Rock genre, that wouldn't be good.

He's been in the spotlight more than that.

This conversation is going nowhere

well your post before this one was all over the place and didn't really have a point.

It did, I admit, wasn't sober when typing it so I takes a few turns that are well not logical. But the crux of the story is Kanye generates buzz to keep himself relevant.

There's a study done, basically think of a ****ty song you can't get out of your head. Say Fancy by Iggy Azalea, why can't you get it out of your head, you know you shouldn't like it. Or what about Shake it Off by T-Swizzle. Well you can't get them out of your head because of repetitively hearing it. Whether intentionally or not (say at a mall or while shopping at a big box store) and over time you grow to like it subconsciously because it's been proven scientifically that the more you listen to a song the more you'll like it even if your initial reaction is to hating it. THe same thing applies to having your name out there. Kanye knows if his name is out there constantly he's gonna keep making money. Like at his wife. Everyone "hates" her, but her show makes her millions, she released a retarded app that's made her millions, so on so forth. Because she's always in your face.

This debate alone probably will lead to someone who didn't buy a Kanye album before to pick one up "just to see what the fuss is about" or some logic like that. Getting your name out there makes it easier to stay relevant even if you're a ****ty musical act, like Kanye.

I might agree that Kanye is more hype than hip-hop at this point, but he isn't—or, at they very least, he wasn't—a ****ty musical act.

He is. I mean he had some good stuff, but he can't stick to anything and stay with it. Not to say an artist can't experiment. But he seems to roll into whatever trends become stylish. When you listen to Watch the Throne and say, College Dropout or Late Registration, you notice a change to his flow. Not all the time of course, but he changed something instrumental of being him. It would be like Robert Plant singing a song in Baritone, or BB King singing in Falsetto, just a crime to a real artist, Kanye doesn't care, he wants to be rich and popular. And that's fine, he's a pop act, he's all sizzle and no steak.
