Acuna

Don't waste your time indulging the autistic members. They're reduced to creating a straw man now. Nobody ever once posted here that Heyward was "not a good hitter." The point is that he projected to legendary but did not live up to those expectations.

Uh, no, that's not the point. No one has ever argued that Heyward fully lived up to his hype. He didn't become the next-level superstar he had the talent to become. Great, we all know that. The question actually is whether or not he was still a good hitter for the first 6 years of his career, and people in this very thread have disagreed with that.

FG has a nice blurb about the Braves' drafting strategy, and they focus not only on taking pitching early and often but on taking young pitching, including the youngest HS guys, which is something I've noted before. The track record is better for younger guys than it is for older guys. So there has to be more analysis than just 'we need to take more position players, because position players are more valuable than pitchers, because prospects ranked in ___ range average ___ in surplus value.' That's good information but it's nowhere near complete.

Your obsession with telling people what they should and shouldn't talk about is beyond annoying.

Who said that they can't talk about it? They're welcome to be OCD, just as others are free to make mention of that OCD.

Acuna up to 38 in the updated rankings at MLB.com. All the way up there from 68 on the word of a trusted scout that saw him lately in spring.

Wait, what? He wasn't even in the MLB.com rankings, and I didn't think they updated them until mid-season.

Just see what happens this year. If he torches A+ and you move him to AA and he torches AA, I don't think it's rushing him to say he may be ready in 2018. I do think it would likely be rushing him to have him be the opening day RF no matter what, but you just never know. If he shows he's ready, then there's also no real need to hold him back.

That would be dumb to rush him.

I agree, but this is the same FO that promoted Swanson and started his service clock for no other reason than...no reason.

At some point this FO is going to get some pressure to show some results from the rebuild. If the young pitching doesn't start to produce at the MLB level at the end of this year, I could definitely see Acuna being rushed in an effort to "prove" the rebuild is working.

I hope it doesn't shake out that way and Acuna doesn't make his debut until opening day of 2019, but it's starting to become apparent The Genius doesn't know how to build an MLB winner, and hopefully he doesn't get desperate to save his job.

The White Sox FO you worship sure does.

Stating they have perfectly managed the early portion of their rebuild is not equivalent to worshiping them, nor is it the same as claiming they are good at building an MLB winner.

Nice attempt at a straw man argument though.

Right, my point was to say a guy will be our RFer next year who hasn't even seen an at-bat above A ball is ridiculous, though.

They have traded two very valuable assets and gotten expectedly good returns on them, after failing to produce a winner around said assets for years. Congrats to them. Rick Hahn is a true genius.

Assets which were in place beforehand as well right?

Let's sat for argument sake kris Bryant doesn't resign with the cubs and cites the reason being they messed with his service time. Was it the right decision then to hold him back when he was clearly ready?

Of course I'm sure the cubs will throw whatever it takes to keep him but just curious on your thoughts.
