Affordable Care Act

The argument Mossy makes is exactly why we should have universal healthcare.

Instead of poking at the poor and those bordering poor and middle class over health insurance and whether or not they deserve to have access to basic healthcare, the misguided hate should be directed at insurance companies whom are using human life as a game of numbers.

Oh I agree with that, but that is not the problem, it is the suing hospitals and doctors trying to save your life that runs up cost. I went to the emergency and was looked at for 15 minutes while waiting 7 hours and I had insurance. My bill was $2150. My insurance paid around $1300. $800 for nothing. I will never go to the emergency room again, I don't care how much pain I am in (wife had to bring me in and I had to crawl to a chair). But that is not the sad part, the ones in the room with me, about 12, all came after me were seen first and left. I was like I've been here for 3 hours (watching Discovery channel and re-runs) and these people went before me. It is like, well you have insurance you can wait, then charge you for the time you been there, according to the insurance company. Lost a day of sick time and then waited 7 hours before being seen and only 15 minutes to get some pills. No blood work, no x-ray, nothing, just ask what is the issue, here take this and out the door.

That is the problem.

I like the care for one reason only, insurance companies can't stiff people with terrible rates with preexisting conditions. It is like that the Americans against it believe in Darwinism.

Well we have docs and a NP at our workplace so people do not go to the emergency room. Since our insurance is cheap, they figured instead of paying around 2 mil in health care in cash, having a doc on call and a NP on site would alleviate that. But a lot of companies can't do that and won't when the minimum wage is increased. We only have around 160 in our company and can afford it now but the boss told us if the min wage is raised, it will be higher than their normal non minimal wage and he expects those who fall in that range want more and then office workers, specialist like me and salesman and managers, then we have to raise prices, bigger companies than can take us out because their workers are usually minimum wage (price wars are fun because I am the one who does the program to see how we can angle our prices).

Not a good thing.

Ha ha, I thought the same thing.

If you don't work and get sick, you are sitting pretty good.

the way conservatives sell section 8 and food stamps and healthcare

i really don't get why they don't quit everything and get on the gravy train

we should make insurance really expensive for poor people. that way, they will be forced to pull their boot straps up. that'll teach'em to be poor in America!

I pay a little over $100 a month for an excellent health care plan. I hope those that can't afford that much are paying less than that. I hope everyone can get healthcare, period, regardless of how much one makes (aka how much you "contribute to society").

You're so kind. I hope you write extra pay checks to the federal governemnt bc you can afford to do so. It will help others.

I hope you give all your spare cash to homeless people every time they ask.

My roommate's fiance is working at Lockeed Martin - she makes $52K a year... not bad at all... But her healthcare is like $150 a month, and her student loan debt is about $1200 a month. Her healthcare has gone up every year since 2011. She doesn't qualify for the subsidies - but the burden is starting to get extreme

why didnt she work her way through college flipping burgers or delivering chicken wings wearing skimpy outfits ?

Sounds like she made bad choices --

See, you get everything wrong

and those that don't make $52K that can't afford $150 a month or as proven during the ACA debate usually more because they are women -- just sucks to be them ?

Some country you see

Perhaps lockheed should lower her cost. mine is so low because of my company's plan. if my small company can afford to do what they do for us, lockheed certainly can. but then that might make their executives a tad bit less filthy rich so **** the lower level employees who aren't as valuable amirite???

or maybe she should just go find a better paying job and one that takes care of her needs better. it's really easy, i've heard, so this is her fault.

Or provisions from ACA mandate that they cover less than full-time employees as well.

Same thing happened to my company. I had a sweet deal but they had to make tons of changes after the law and it's gone up quite a bit. 57 will say that was my fault though

Or maybe she shouldn't have gone to college bc what the Federal Government has done to increase the cost to absurd levels

she should just get a better job paying job with better benefits then.

if the higher ups at lockheed sacrificed a tad bit they could cover everyone extremely easily. they don't want to do it, though. they'd rather pass the cost on to their worthless lower level liabilities (employees). but you're ok with this, so i'm not sure why you're bringing it up.

Are you writing those extra checks to the government?

yeah, i agree. she should have made better choices. either find a new job with a better plan (it's easy to do, i've heard) or go back and time and go to a cheaper school, or not at all.

but don't dare suggest the executives at lockheed take smaller than exorbitant bonuses this year to help their leeching employees. how would they survive?

She did work through college

wonder what her monthly fee would have been before ACA?
ACA outlawd insurance companies from charging women more because you know, all that plumbing and mammograms and messy preggers nd ****

But, you knew that because you complained once about having to help subsidize women. Lke your sisters and the future mothers and cousins etc.
Or even your girfiriend or maybe even your friends fiance.

Maybe she should have worked 2 jobs --

Are you writing those extra checks to the government?

perhaps if the executives sacrificed a small percentage for the rest of their lower level employees this wouldn't be a problem. but they deserve that absurd money, and your friend deserves this trouble she's in. have you suggested she pull up her boot straps? i've heard more money can be found there, and it might motivate her to get a better paying job with better benefits. just a thought. just don't suggest the higher-ups not bathe in money each morning.

Maybe she should have whored herself out like you suggested.

The good news is - ACA is working for her!!
