Affordable Care Act

Let's be real here, politicians turn a blind eye to illegals, because if farmers had to pay people regular wage, produce and such would be 3x or 4x the price it is now at the grocery store. If people started rioting about that, then politicians wouldn't be able to complain about military cuts, and such.

You mean to tell me that having minimum wage laws negatively affects the prices of goods to consumers??

I'M SHOCKED!

Obamacare Enrollment Has Now Reached 5 Million

(TPM) More than five million people have now enrolled in private health coverage through Obamacare, the Obama administration announced Monday.

The figure, announced via a blog post, provided another data point as the law's open enrollment comes to a close at the end of March. The administration said 4.2 million people had enrolled by the end of February, which means about 800,000 have signed up in March.

oh---

For discussion sake, Even if your estimate of 1M is accurate - that would be 200,000 people per state that have health insurance that didn't a year ago
I have tried but still find it hard to see that as a problem.

For perspective --- Salt Lake City, Little Rock Arkansas, Chattanooga Tennessee -- none of which have a pop. of 200K
That would be a city of that size in each state is now able to get health insurance
Perhaps, without the campaign of disinformation ... who knows

It's not necessarily a problem. But weren't the administration's estimates around 40 million? If we only have 1/40 of that number, might there have been a better way to assist them without the massive ACA? I think both single-payer supporters and R opponent of ACA will say, yes.

Politically there was no better way.
Let's not let the perfect be the enemy of the good

2 things for certain are 1) it isn't going away and 2) the landscape has improved

I wonder how much more money will be put towards health premiums this year compared to previous years...

I'm curious the cost of getting those $1M new people insured. I bet it cost a whole lot of money

What choice did the people have? They were being forced into paying for something by the government. Lets not act like thats some accomplishment. THEY HAVE NO CHOICE and are still not signing up by estimates.

Good, I hope insurance companies drive up the prices so much, the consumers will be pissed off and demand single payer, like every other wealthy and civilized country in the world.

Great plan. Make people suffer to get your agenda.

Who's making people suffer again? Insurance companies raising prices in the name of profit margins. If you think people's lives should be in the hands of an insurance company.... lol. I'd rather the government keep giving treatment to a dying person than tell a patient the insurance company has capped their coverage.

Don't you think that once the progressives and their insurance buddies get all the details worked out on how the insurance folks will manage the governmental, single-payer system for their benefit, then we will have one? I'm thinking that ACA is just the necessary transition phase the President spoke of before being elected. It might not be the exact form as he would have liked; but, it is providing the sort of crappy context to better allow the move. Just my humble opinion.

i could see that being the case

cause this country doesn't care about doing things right to help the people that pay taxes

been an empire for 60 years or so and could have been so much more
