AJC: Braves' Hart Could Be Busy At GM Meetings

Give it a freaking rest. Those of you who are hung up on the title (or lack thereof) are starting to remind me Mr. Roper -- or Mrs. Kravitz.

You might want to amuse yourself by looking up the actual titles of all the team reps at the "GM" meetings.

I never said anything about his title.

I'm very excited for this offseason to really get started. Could one of the busiest off seasons we've had in a while.

So is it assumed Hart is the "GM"? Who are other GMs calling to deal with us when talking trades? Who is representing us at these meetings? There has to be some structure here.

Wouldn't expect a ton.

Maybe a 1-yr vet FA SP to replace Harang.

Volquez, Peavy, or Masterson are options.

And then try to trade for one.

No disrespect to the OP but not exactly ground-breaking news with all the holes we have to fill (trade BJ or try too, 3B, SP, bench, etc)

DOB is actually a decent writer, it's just that he isn't a very good reporter. I think he keeps quiet on a lot of things in order to maintain a good relationship with the club.

On the other hand, I really need to know who Mark Bowman is blowing to keep his job. Dude is incredibly ... basic.

I remember I started posting on the old board around the time of the Hudson trade. Back then I used to get really excited about the off season.

Then the Mondesi/Jordan/Anderson/Reitsma days made me really jaded about the off season. After that we started signing guys again, only to have the Lowe/Kawakami/Uggla/Upton signings make me afraid of the Braves signing anyone long term.

Has there been an article that has stated it in those terms? Maybe that's why it's hard to grasp.....

Just a live interview where JS said Hart would be assuming the major duties of the GM. He is basically the GM with a different title that will allow them to keep him AND Coppolella when the time comes for Coppolella to assume the title of GM. Otherwise, when that day comes, they would have to do just what they are doing now to keep Hart, except at that point it would undermine Coppolella. Now when that time comes no one will think twice about Hart being in the position he is. It won't undermine Coppolella as GM at all.
