AJC Q&A With Fredi Gonzalez

I can't believe it seems he will be our coach next year

Why? Was there ever any indication that missing the postseason one year after winning the division would cost him his job? I would have been very, very surprised if he had been fired.

If you had told everyone after the collapse in '11 that he would have an even worse September collapse three years later, most would immediately think he was going to be fired unless he had won a World Series in '12 or '13.

Some of the comments here are priceless especially the ones that say a manager doesn't really matter. Also those trying to say can't blame FG because of the players he has been given. The funniest one is well he won more than most managers.

First a manger does matter anyone remember not walking Kemp and leaving CK in the bullpen. Who knows how those two games turnout but the managers decision did affect those games. This is what gets me, any manager we bring in I will still question decisions he makes its the nature of being a fan. However the problem with FG is he makes head scratching decisions it seems almost ever game whether it's leaving a guy in too long, not PH a player, etc strategic descions seem to elude him and this is the problem. We will still question a new manager but it will happen only at a weekly rate instead of a daily rate.

As for he can only manage the players he has been given, well that's the issue he has no clue how to manage them. He is the only person in baseball that allows BJ to lead off half the year. He is the only person in basball that doesn't bring in CK against the Dodgers last year. We trade for Russell and it takes him 3 weeks to realize he isn't a lefty specialist, the list can go on and on. Has anyone figured out why he took Lastella out of the starting lineup. These are just a few of the many many head scratching decisions he makes.

Lastly we have had a talented ball club so most mangers would have won at least 55% of those games its like I've said with Cox winning all those games who couldn't with 3 HOF pitchers leading your rotation in the prime of their career.

Guys, I don't think Fredi is going anywhere.
