Albies passes the audition

For the second straight game, GM John Coppolella was present in Chattanooga to watch Mississippi. After a shaky Sean Newcomb spotted the Lookouts a 4-0, the M-Braves rallied for a 5-4 win to end their seven game losing streak. They were down to their final strike before Oz Albies delivered a two-run triple, completing his three-hit game that also included a double.

As much of a relief as the win was, the disappointment in Newcomb was palpable. The big lefty, laboring in 94-degree heat, needed 32 pitches to get through the first inning, giving up a pair of runs. Newcomb found his groove briefly, but left the game trailing 4-2. A.J. Minter had another three-strikeout inning and the Braves added a third run in the eighth before the last-ditch rally.

But the team slump continues. Peterson, Meneses, Schrader and Franco were all 0-fer. Odom, who has earned the No.1 catcher's job over Astudillo, had a double, single and run scored, while Steve Gaylor had two hits and two runs scored.

Mader, like Weigel an undeserving 0-2, starts for Mississippi Monday night.

Is Albies the only one at miss being considered for September call up?

I can't help but think Akeel Morris has a shot and wouldn't be floored by Camargo, though I doubt he actually gets the call.

Minter probably deserves the call, but I think they should let him finish the year by destroying AA bats and let him come to camp and prove he should be on the OD roster.

Jed Bradley needs to be up. He's 26...they need to figure out if he is what he appears to be lately...which has been excellent. If he has all the sudden "clicked"....what.a.steal!!

Morris is on the 40-man and had two strong innings Sunday. He SHOULD be called up; but who knows?

Joseph Odom is an older prospect, but could he develop into someone who could be a back-up at the big league level?
