First time I'd ever seen the word debridement. Was afraid to look it up on my work computer this afternoon.

Removal may be surgical, mechanical, chemical, autolytic (self-digestion), and by maggot therapy, where certain species of live maggots selectively eat only necrotic tissue.

Debridement is an important part of the healing process for burns and other serious wounds; it is also used for treating some kinds of snake and spider bites.

Pretty sure he'll opt for the maggot therapy. Self-digestion a decent fallback plan though if that doesn't work.
