ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL DAY

kanye is pretty ****ing rich so i doubt he's too worried if someone on a message thinks he "sounds poor" (whatever that means).

I know Kanye is rich. It's you and that other explosively athletic sounding fella that sound poor.

oh, so we have to directly relate, on a personal level, to understand what they're talking about? or to enjoy it? give me a break. that's really weak.
LMAO oh you played basketball. so did i. you understand it more than i do because you watch and pay attention more. i listen and pay attention more to hip-hop, so i understand it and appreciate it differently than you.

But again, you and I both have a connection to basketball because we played it when we are younger so its easier to understand when you watch professional applying strategy.

However, with hip-hop how much can we really understand? Have you ever been hungry? Have you ever wondered when you were going to be evicted? I loved rap when I was a kid but as I got older and started really listening to the lyrics I just felt absolutely no connection to the music so I stopped listening.

also, not every hip-hop song is about the "conditions and persecution." you're already displaying how you know little about it and don't understand it. understanding is all-encompassing, from the music to the flows to the words.

dude, wtf are you talking about? i didn't say i relate to everything they talk about. understanding =/= relating. you can understand a reference and think how they're telling their story is clever or well-done and not necessarily relate. do you relate to every song you like? lol please.

and again...not every song is about trials and tribulations...there's a lot of stuff out there. i understand what makes hip-hop good more than you do.

hate to use a cliche album, but it's a good example here. nas' illmatic is basically him telling his stories of growing up in NYC. i can't relate to hardly any of it, but i understand and appreciate what he's saying. he describes his stories and situations in a very skillful, artful way.

There is a song about Dikembe's middle finger too, apparently. I can't relate.

Just because you listen to hip-hop currently and I don't doesn't mean that you've listened to more of it in your lifetime than I have. Please remember that. I just said I don';t listen to hip hop anymore as I got older.

Another reason I stopped listening is because I never found the new junk to be any good. Full disclosure I haven't listened to anything that has come out in the last 5 years at least but the 80's/90s rap is much better than what came out afterwards.

This is so, so, so dumb.

You have to relate to a song, otherwise you can't like the beat, flow, message, whatever? Plus, you're implying that there are not rap songs about breakup, growing up, school, parents, bullies, friends, etc.

90% of rap is pure **** just like country, pop, rock, etc.....but that doesn't mean guys like Biggie, Pac, Jay, Nas, Wu, Kanye, Mos Def, Andre 3000, Eminem, KRS, Rakim........Joe Budden (That's for you c2c) aren't really smart and have songs worth listening to. Also, everything doesn't have to be some deep message, you can't just listen to a song that has a good beat or puts you in a good mood?

Repping Andre 3000 but not Big Boi? That's dirty.

Also, Jigga has gone super stale. He hasn't done anything great in years.

By all means enjoy the beats and the rhymes. I just took umbrage with the remark that we don't understand the music. My response is that I would wager that none of us who post on this board truly understand it either.
