Angels close to acquiring Kyle Kubitza from Braves

I think we will be a contending or palatable team even with the reload. Which is why I would have preferred to go for it.

I like the returns we got in the La Stella, Carpenter and Kubitza trades. To me this demonstrates we could have reloaded without doing so much damage to our prospects in 2015.

If we are a "plesent surprise" thats fine. But don't think for once that will make Hart and company change the plans.

To all those who think we should have went for it tell me how?

This team didnt work last year. What makes you think it would have next year?

Baseball is an up and down sport. If one or two guys step up last year, it's a different story. Those guys (Simmons, CJ, Heyward, etc) having slightly better seasons, or one having a significantly better season (which isn't even close to out of the question), and it changes everything.

Very good point.

Good point about how those moves demonstrate the ability to reload without doing so much damage to our prospects in 2015. I also disagree with this idea that we must throw both 2015 and 2016 out the window.

And our rotation would be what?

Teheran

A hurt wood and minor

Then what?

Then when we don't win the WS you lose Heyward and Justin for 2 picks that will be 4+ years away if we are lucky and our rebuild is a year slower. Odds are the braves wouldnt be a playoff team again quicker by going for it in 2015.

Are Minor and Wood hurt right now?
If we didn't trade Heyward and Upton, we wouldn't have needed Nick Markakis (still makes me cringe). Could have used that money on a pitcher, especially considering they weren't crazy expensive this offseason.

Minor and Wood are question marks. Both ended 2014 hurt.

What picher would u get? And most were exspensive. When guys like Brent Anderson and masterson get 10 mill after the years they were coming off I woukd say that piching was once again exspensive.

The moves and the improvement the braves needed to do to make this team a WS caliber team wasn't realistic IMO.

1 year and 10 million is not expensive.
Brandon McCarthy was no expensive.

I think there's some reason to be concerned about Minor's shoulder, personally. He missed time at the beginning of the season with shoulder issues and then again at the end of the season. Would not be surprised to see something similar crop up in 2015.

On Wood's forearm strain, I'm hoping that was a smoke screen to limit his IP.

Didn't Minor miss time at the start with his groin?

Dude, if you have a crystal ball, why have you been hiding it so long? And not using it for something more worth-while than baseball?

Crystal ball is broken. Its called common sense.

It just is amazing how people say we should go for it to me. What did last years team show you that they should have been giving another chance at it? People are pissed that the braves are rebuilding a team that finished 2nd to last in runs scored last year. Really? Its not like the braves lost in game 7 of the LCS last year. They are a very bad team.

Why should Hart trade what few crappy prospects we have to try and go for it 1 more year?

lol.
Ok buddy.
How many wins did the Giants have this year?
Slight changes/breaks going our way, we could've matched that total (this coming season, or this past one). Baseball fluctuation can be subtle but huge.
