Evan Grant: The Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs passed away today in Texas

Unreal. Wow. Prayers to the family and teams.
 
Wow, sad. It's an odd statement though - someone that young and presumably in good physical condition doesn't simply 'pass away'. Hopefully we find out more.

There are some cases of an underlying heart condition that wasn’t identified.
 
Did they sell their soul for Trout. First Adenhart. Then our old friend Tommy Hanson.... and now Skaggs...... wth is going on.

I always think herbal supplements for some reason when an athlete dies unexpectedly in this manner. They were all the rage in the 1990s and early-2000s and some of these guys view them as sleep aids. They are legal, but they can have an adverse effect. I remember that Tom Gugliotta had to be rushed to a hospital while on the road for the Timberwolves back in the late-1990s when his heart went violently irregular and supplements were ruled to be the cause.
 
It is always sad when someone so young passes away but based on all of the tributes around MLB he really was a special young man. May he RIP! Thoughts and prayers to his wife, the rest of his family, friends, teammates and the entire Angels organization.

Overdoses are far less common when substances are legal because the quality and dosage is regulated. In a prohibition system Skaggs had to guesstimate on his own and he guessed wrong. So dont blane the drugs, blame prohibition.

Are you kidding me right now?? Taking the two most potent opioids we have in addition to drinking alcohol... the only reason one does that is to get high and check out from reality for the night. Fentynal is a synthetic opioid originally designed to treat major pain in huge animals such as elephants. A very small amount can kill you by itself. This statement is stupid.

And these drugs are legal if you have a prescription for them. However... short of the final stages of cancer or someone on their deathbed, there’s no legitimate need for fentynal.

Skaggs was living a very successful life. Probably had been doing this for a while. The deadly ingredient here was probably the alcohol. Someone should really ban that stuff.
