I wanted to give an update regarding issues with the forum misbehaving.
Approximately 3 months ago, our Chop Country was hit with an apparent hacker terrorist attack. Some keyboards were silenced in an attempt to alter and change our way of posting. One poster in particular, was targeted specifically due to his role and powers here at Chop Country. That user, Metaphysicist, was the main victim in a master-minded plot to undermine our freedoms of fandom. His account and password were compromised. Some of you have brought to the attention the site's functionality being dragged down by high CPU usage and potential bitmining exploits. While our staff here may have seemed to be slow to attack this issue, I want to reassure the good folks here at Chop Country that drastic measures were taken for days, almost weeks to ensure the security and stability of the Republic. This attacker, whom was exposed as none other than William Shanks himself, sought to harm and attack our values, freedoms, and liberties that we enjoy here. His goal was to disrupt, cause chaos, and force a migration of posters back to the desolate wastelands of the Scout Inc. forums. His main objective, was to achieve financial sustainability by installing bitcoin mining malware to support his own personal agenda and forum, while dividing our way of life of posting here. Thanks to the brave and courageous staff, who worked tirelessly day and night to protect us from these threats, we were able to neutralize the threat. No more extra tabs opening. No more high CPU usage. Faster browsing experience. Tonight, I can report to the posting populace here, that the Staff of Chop Country conducted an operation that killed the bitmining spyware, and its leader of The Braves Show.
At this time, a more thorough investigation is underway to determine how our security protocols were breached, and to ensure an attack like this does not ever happen again. Also at this time, our staff will not be fielding questions on these security breaches. Just know, that I can assure everyone here, that the monetary and financial contributions and subscriptions have not, in any way shape or form been jeopardized or compromised. That was our highest priority when this crisis began, to ensure that business remained open for our loyal paying customers here.
