Another School Shooting Today

again, it seems the same crowd of fake 2nd amendment advocates think doing nothing is a better option

cause i mean, why try to stop these things from happening

You have any proposals? 57 and I have them, what about you rather than decrying the 2nd amendment or NRA?

Banning guns won't work, but you have to address that part of the problem. I would go for much stricter regulations on ownership and make these parents and relatives spend quality time in prison when their guns are used for something like this. That's a start. Then we need to approach the mental health part of the problem. State hospitals are closing right and left. That's the opposite of what should be happening. It's ridiculous. Get these kids the help they need before this stuff happens. That will also help. Bullying. Abuse. Those have to be addressed, too. There isn't just one part of this problem you can attack full force and stop anything. You have to go at it from every angle possible.

A lot of the problons with kids these days is awful parenting.

a very solid common sense approach. You will not get the guns off the street, but future guns can be restricted like (going to puke again) what 57 said about doing to it what they did with cigarettes, but Dalyn's go further, punish the parents if the guns were in their names.

And I can't stress the bold part above, it still goes on and the public schools refuse to do anything about it, even the bus drivers can't do a thing. How many times we here kids getting beat up on the bus and the driver just sit and watch eating popcorn. The kid who got the snot beat out of him, no justice whatsoever but will be scarred for life. They are too worried that they would get sued if they do anything.

Our country is fvcked up because of sue happy people and people who do not want to take any responsibility in anything they do.

Truth is--even though some of us forget--the teenage years are usually the worst of your life. Those of us who make it through them without life-altering mistakes are lucky. If any teenager makes a good decision, it is usually by accident. We need to account for all that when talking about this stuff.

No schit Sherlock. It starts there. Kids are immune from punishment. My mom retired because she couldn't tear into kids anymore (Dean of students, aka The Punisher, The Terminator, more appropriately The HBIC, you figure that out). Now they can do whatever the fvck they want to teachers in the disrespect department. Kick a kid out for a few days, the parents would have the principal's head on the platter or wrote up. This was unheard of when I was a kid. We did something bad, we would be lit up or paddled and when we got home, you think Adrian Peterson was nice, for a black that was standard, but my parents punishment was far worse, if we got a belt that would be relief, they took privileges away, the most important ones that they knew would hurt. They don't do that nowadays.

Please with the reasonable ----

The NRA blocks something as simple as background checks. Reading will tell you that is why we dont have a Surgeon General.

People that go through the avenues as having background checks aren't in danger of failing one. I've gotten a check with every weapon I've gotten, plus with my CCP.

People that can't pass a background check steal one or pay 4x what they should for one that has been stolen on the street. Criminals get guns regardless of checks.

well i guess that settles it. There is nothing to be done --- good lord that's lame

It just helps if you have the rigt info, to start. It doesn't settle anything with me.

I tried to help in you my first post, but if you give up forming a legitimate plan that may actually work that easily, then yeah lame is probably a good word for it.

Stop being a fist shaking tax raiser and try to come up with something original. Don't be lazy. Also you are brushing the acknowlegemt that background checks do very little off as "there's nothing more to be done " . I mean that in itself is embarrassing. Get creative . Something you probably can't find on the pages of huff post. I'm all ears. I am willing to listen on the subject and I'm as big of a gun advocate as anyone. I'm at the table. Put together a well thought out plan and let's see it.

when you stay tax em to hell... All of them. Then crinals who don't pay taxes and just steal the stuff for free dodge your plan. I fail to see how it affects anyone other than the upstanding majority, and again it's lazy.

a long time ago I wrote as a teen cigarettes sold ~ $.30 a pack. Today they are $5.00 --- taxing tobacco worked to help people decide. Forced Big Tobacco to scale back on advertising and promotion and the fines and class action suits put a huge dent in their corporate bottom line.

Background checks are a deterrent not a silver bullet -- there is no silver bullet but something has to start somewhere.
Almost 2 years since Sandy Hook and no background checks- no tax-no confiscation - no mental health programs to speak of - same old people on the sideline talking about responsibility and parenting (most have no kids to parent I might add) and here we are with the 22nd shooting since August.

Background checks were a meeting in the political middle to get a ball rolling. But the lobbying wing of the weapons industry put the kibosh to that

Specific proposals -- who do I look like- Elizabeth Warren? Get real - I get to be radical because in spite of what others think I have no political agenda. Issue agenda yes, political -- I could care less which pol gets done what I want done.

At least you are trying and that I honestly respect.

So you can't? Or you won't?

Either way is fine with me, I just want to understand.

You want background checks that don't work to deter criminals from getting guns. Gotcha.

I don't want kids to have access to weapons. I don't think background checks have any correlation with that happening.

I understand the NRA blocked background checks, but in many states they are very much a reality,
So they must not be all powerful no?

Isn't a ban on guns against what a Libertarian stands for?

how cute

again the attempt of someone here to tie me down to one party and their one stance on everything in that platform

got news for ya, depending on the topic, i could be placed in a different political party.

of course

we could go look at the last mass shooting or school shooting for these same proposals

this is all part of the the same cycle of bull**** where nothing gets changed and we will all look shocked when the next school shooting or mass shooting happens
