Anyone cut the cord yet?

When I lived in the US, I got a handful of those "we know you downloaded this thing" notices from the cable companies, mostly from NBC Universal shows, but nothing ever happened.

BUT NOW I LIVE LAWLESS, AIN'T NOBODY CARE ROUND HERE

For those of you who torrent, how afraid are you of being flagged and fined?

I have read that it's become more prevalent the last couple of years. What measures do you guys take to protect yourself?

You could just run a proxy, tons of ways to hide yourself.

I'd be more afraid of catching virus's than some company coming after me.

The more I read on this topic the more I would shy away from this mentality. It seems like the days of mad torrenting are coming to an end. You have to protect yourself these days.

Proxies, and download it off public wifi when given a chance. Still use some type of shield though.

And generally when I torrent music, it's just 1 song not the entire album so I only select that song and quickly get out of there asap.

I don't torrent movies or shows because I have a DVR and I still prefer buying physical media like blu-rays. For TV shows I've never seen and don't want to spend there's netflix.

A streaming website is much safer to use than torrent sites. youtubeonfire or solarmovie.is are 2 good websites that let you stream tv shows and movies. Downside is you don't have the movie/show at your disposal like you would if you downloaded it. But with wifi being pretty much everywhere nowdays, that isn't as big of an issue anymore.
