Around Baseball 2015 Edition

Lulz.

If KJ could still play 2b at an acceptable level he'd still be a starting caliber player. 6700 of those 6800 innings came over and years ago. He was never an elite defensive player to begin. If he was anything better than below average, he'd see more than a handful of games a year.

So hes below average bc he hasnt played there in the last 2 years. Ok.

I would take JUp back, but that deal could be a massive deal down the line.

Fried could be a big-time trade chip if he recovers.

Dustin has hit well in his first year.

Jace has been solid since being the every-day 2B.

And Mallex could be the future leadoff hitter.

Regarding Jason, i dont watch Stl a ton but he hasnt hit well at all. I wouldnt say i want him to fail but i hate the Cards so if he does hit/play horrible, so be it, f them.

He isnt even playing defense well either. I think he is rated in the negative this year in RF.

according to the stats he really hasn't been as impactful this season defensively. Maybe because he doesn't have as much room to roam in St. Louis?

I know he was at like 0 or -1 through almost a month of the season. Given he has 4 DRS or so since then, that would put him at around an 18 DRS pace for the year since then. So right in line with what he has been doing. I know it doesn't work like that but maybe he had an adjustment period going to that park? All speculation btw.

He's below average because the last time he played primarily 2b he rated as poor defender and no one has played him extensively at 2b since then. He still hits will enough to be a starting 2b, but clearly he isnt holding down a starting 2B job.

Yeah the last time Kelly was a primary 2b was in 2012 with the Jays and he had a 5 DRS. He hasn't been negative at 2B since 2009.

Rated negative in UZR in 2012 according to Fangraphs. Regardless, the point still stands. He hits well enough to be a starting 2b but has been completely pulled off that position since 2012, playing in less than 25 total games at the position since that time. But somehow he's going to be a good or even average fielder 2.5 years later?
