@based_ball: top 25 hitters in WAR getting paid $152 million. bottom 25 hitters in WAR getting paid $253 million

If th eBraves don't take their BJ/Kimbrel money and Sign Jason/Justin we're ****ed.

If our outfield in 2017 is Maybin, Mallex, Markakis, we're ****ed.

And I wouldn't bet on a .360-.370 OBP from Markakis. 4 years before this year he was at .351/.363/.329/.342

Marky Markakis and the Funky Bunch. Same theory: some black guys standing nearby will make people think you're better than you really are.

I think we should take a long look at the Brew Crew for our inevitable 2017 championship run. A guy like Lucroy on the last year of his deal could be a nice little addition for us if the Brew Crew decide they can't compete. Trade for Lucroy and sign one of Heyward/Upton/Fowler and suddenly the 2017 run is looking legit. And that's just after only two moves. Two moves that are quasi realistic.

Yeah - Bethancourt has shown less than nothing this year. I don't think we should count on him to be a key piece of the future

Not a chance. The type of hitter Markakis is leads to a much slower degradation of skills. He will not be a negative at any point in the deal.

You have no way of knowing that at all. Loss of bat speed can happen to any type of hitter.

He'll make a fine Eddie Perez

I question if he can even be that, Eddie was actually a pretty decent hitter, at least didn't embarrass himself more often that not and could walk into one now and then.

Eddie Perez before injuries started to take a toll: .259 BA, .308 OBP, .403 SLG, .712 OPS

Henry Blanco is a more realistic comp.

Yeah that may be selling Perez short. Either way he should be an acceptable backup.

Unless Heyward has a hot streak at some point this year and shows that he can reach his offensive ceiling, then I don't think he gets 15 million per year. It really seems the industry as a whole has soured on Heyward as a whole this year.

I'd give him 20 million or so for one season to see if he can recapture what he once had and get that huge contract the next season. But imagine the Yanks still will offer him a 100 million deal.

If he'd take 5/90, I'd definitely sign him this offseason for that.

He had a great game last night and is creeping back up to solid numbers.

I would always welcome Jason back at a 15 million a year contract.

Heyward is not doing the things that make him Heyward. He went from walking 10% of the time to walking 7% of the time and his K rate has risen from 16.6 and 15.1 to 19.7. And his defense hasn't been at Heywardean levels. Still a positive defender in RF but he's more at like a good to very good level so far this year, not a OMG! level. Which I think may have a comfort factor to things. I think he grew comfortable to Atlanta, now he's at a different stadium as his home and that may be part of the issue defensively.

But honestly, if you sub out his BB rate to last years and K rate to last years, his overall numbers would be close t olast years.

I wonder if anyone tracks defensive stats of home and away?

Ryan Braun is on quite a run right now. 9 HR in his last 20 games

Braves could pull off a massive trade with the Brewers.

Braun/Lucroy for Wood/Peraza/Sims/Curcio

Wonder if the Brewers would be interested. You put those guys in the lineup and then we would really have something going.

Edit: Took out Wisler because I didn't realize that Braun was 31 already.

Braun is getting up there... but I think he has a few good years left. Lucky would be a big win.

Not sure the braves have the pieces to get it done

I want no part of Ryan Braun, but I would be interested in Lucroy.

I bet we could get Lucroy. The price would be pretty high, but I'd give up a decent package for him. Let's say he was added RIGHT NOW even, this lineup is very solid.

Peterson 2B
Maybin CF
Freeman 1B
Lucroy C
Markakis RF
Cunningham LF
Simba SS
CJoh 3B

Yes please.
