Around Baseball 2015 Edition

I agree. I'm just using it as something that I was hoping would make clear that Miller is tradeable instead it seemingly makes thethe look crazy for not wanting what would litereally be what we need in a position player. A right handed power hitting 3B.

3B is weak league-wide, the Donaldson/Longo talk is foolish.

I'd call Cincy yesterday and offer Shelby for Frazier. Not sure they'd do it but they need pitching badly.

I woudln't do Shelby for Frazier because of team control issues. We have Shelby until after 2018, Frazier only til after 2016. But if they sweetened it a bit I would listen.

I'm not a Frasier fan. I would t trade Shelby for him.

Donaldson I would though. Would be no hesitation at all.

Frazier is an extremely good player. He's not a stud or a star (though he's been playing like one for the last year and a quarter) but he's a righty with moderate power, excellent defense, and a pretty nice baserunner as well. If he was under contrade for more than 1 year after this year I'd trade Miller for him. But I wouldn't trade 3 years of Miller for 1 year of Frazier.

He's under team control through 2017....2017 is a arb year. The Reds bought out 2 arb years, there's still 1 left.

Rosenthal wonders how it will be possible for the Reds to sign Todd Frazier long-term, given their already-heavy load of commitments to veterans. Rosenthal says Frazier is eligible for free agency after next season, although he actually isn’t eligible until after 2017 — his current contract carries through 2016, but the Reds can take him through arbitration once more after that.

Fair enough, I fully admit, I haven't looked at his contract. Just remember seeing that he signed a 2 year deal. I do love me some Frazier though. Braves could use a bit more Jersey after letting TLS go.

Josh Donaldson is awesome. Exactly the person we need for 2017. I would trade Miller for him no question about it.

I get that. Everything you said is right I just hate watching him play. He just seems like the kind of guy that you wouldn't be surprised at all to see fall off a cliff at any sudden moment. That skepticism probably isn't rational and has been brought on by the many failures the Braves have had adding those type of players.

Well his K rate could become a problem. It doesn't show a strong control of the zone. SO there's a chance when his batspeed dips his power could as well or his average could just die a miserable death.

But don't fear with Frazier, unlike say McLouth, even if he slips offensively he can field the position.

My point is this is probably peak Frasier and he's going to be exiting his prime. Shelby is obviously just entering his prime and there is some bonus upside. Tie goes to the young guy.

Frazier turns 30 next February.

Shelby is just 24 and while he will regress, im not trading him for Frazier, good player though.

Red Sox demote Bradley to AAA and call up Rusney Castillo. Gotta think JBJ is very much available now moreso than ever.

David Hale will start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Giants.
He'll be matched up against Yusmeiro Petit. Hale began the season on the disabled list with an oblique injury and has posted a 6.93 ERA over five Triple-A outings. He'll be sent back down after the spot start.

I would trade Shelby for Donaldson easily. In the offseason, would Toronto do something like Miller, Peraza, and Cody Martin for Donaldson? Would you?

I wouldn't trade Miller though unless we get a stud MLB hitter in a package for him, or a kings ransom of prospects.
