I would trade Shelby for Donaldson easily. In the offseason, would Toronto do something like Miller, Peraza, and Cody Martin for Donaldson? Would you?
I wouldn't trade Miller though unless we get a stud MLB hitter in a package for him, or a kings ransom of prospects.
He's locked up through 2017, 1 year less than Shelby.
Shelby is playing over his head but Fraziers not?? Lmao... You just can't get over a mediocre Heyward being gone.

Frazier is likely playing over his head and still unlucky this year. His raw power numbers (290 ISO) should go down but his BABIP (248) will likely go up. I suspect his WRC+ will be somewhere near last years level. He's a really good player.
And you can think what you want of Miller but I really hope people realize the 206 BABIP that Miller has won't continue.
People also need to realize that his K rate is up from a season ago and his walk rate and HR rates are down to career lows. Has he gotten lucky on balls in play? Sure. But there is no reason he can't continue to be a dominant pitcher, even if his current ERA isn't sustainable.

His 3.23 FIP is very good but I wouldn't call it dominate. His K rate and BB rates are good and I see no reason that can't continue. His HR rate is what I think will rise eventually. He's cut it in half and I'll have to see him do that for more than 2 months before I think that's his new ability level.
I see no reason he cant be a really good pitcher. But this talk of him being an budding ace is premature imo. Of course people said the same thing last your about Teheran when he benefited from the same thing (really low BABIP). And it was Jurrjens before that. I think some people have forgotten what a truly dominate pitcher looks like. Not to say our boys can't be good but they aren't on that level.
I find it so strange that people seem to forget that Miller was a top 10 prospect and is only 23.
Nobody is forgetting. I'm just not buying into the reduced HR rate and the obvious 206 BABIP. I don't see the issue thinking he will regress to his current low 3 FIP.

What's his ERA at the end of the year?
His FIP is steadily improving, along with this peripherals and overall numbers and performance in general. This is another reason why just looking at the numbers and spouting them off as if they are the end-all, be-all is so, so silly.
What's silly is looking at his ERA and stating 'oh my god stud' which has been done numerous times. It was done with Julio last year the first couple of months when his BABIP was low and done all the time with Jurrjens. Some people just don't learn.
As far as his FIP lowering as the season has gone on. It has mainly due to not giving up any homeruns and not walking as many people. That's great but I don't expect the surpressed homerun rate to continue. I hope I'm wrong and he continues to walk people at less than 2 per 9 and giving up 1 homer per 18 innings. I just doubt it.
Except that's not really at all what has been said, unless you're not comprehending or paying attention.
He looks great. His numbers are great. I don't think I've seen anyone say his numbers aren't going to regress. But, taking a lot of things into consideration, it's clear to see why many fans are buying into Shelby Miller. It's not just his ERA, but sure, his performance thus far is certainly part of it. Honestly you just sound bitter still about Heyward, on the whole. You're giving him all this credit in the other thread while downplaying what Miller has done so far.
