Around Baseball Offseason Thread

also to note, Dylan Bundy was shut down in the AFL because of forearm tightness....he has already had TJ in the past and if i am not mistaken, has been recovering from it

While Andrelton Simmons‘ name has been a hot topic over the past 15 hours or so, there’s a “good chance” that the Braves will make Julio Teheran available at some point this winter. Teheran’s value isn’t as high as that of Simmons at the moment, I wouldn’t think, due to a down year for Teheran in 2015. Moving him would be selling low, which makes it more difficult to envision a deal, from my vantage point.

That was on MLBTraderumors....

Have to agree with the statement. Trading Teheran this offseason would be selling low.

Maybe, but to counter that you could easily show that after a terrible start to last year, he got it together pretty effectively halfway through the year.

Wow, and Wow.....just to think 2 years ago we were on here applauding the extensions to keep our young core of Freeman, Simmons, Tehran, Kimbrel together for the foreseable future.

And now some want to trade them all for another possible core in 3-4 years.

short sighted and it didn't work. Sometimes the best laid plans fail. we built around that core and brought in talent via trades and FA signings to compliment them. It failed and we were left with a shattered minor league system and no money to continue the core development. So we can continue building the house and hope our minor fixes worked.. or we can tear it down to the studs and rebuild the foundation and hope our new plan can work. this is called the fork in the road and who knows which way is correct.

I think trading away valuable assests who are really underpaid and signed for several years is a mistake but that's just me. And there is the new stadium and fan base to think about as well.

I believe the answer lies somewhere in between my two extreme examples. I am not for tearing it down to the studs. As an informed fan, I would not be devastated if they did (assuming the return was good).. But I am also not opposed to building around some of these guys in hopes we can be relevant again. I just don't want to put together a patch work team just to put fannies in the seats. that will only bring us a decade of mediocrity. I will suffer 3 years of crap for a winner over 10 years of immediate mediocrity like we had in the late 2000s..

Wouldnt trade Simba unless the deal was really good in the Braves favor.

And agree trading Julio doesnt make sense since his trade value is low now.

Which is silly that it is so low... since his post all-star break ERA is literally right on line with his career norms.

Prepare thy anus. Freeman has been given the dreaded "Not available for trade" stance. So we can expect him to be traded shortly.
