anyone think Freese is a good option for a 1 yr deal with team option? Bring back Uribe?

I guess it depends on if we actually want to win next year. And if they actually think Adonis has a chance to be a player.

If the team thinks they can truly compete by 2017, and Olivera's days at 3B are over, then Freese on a 2-3 year deal makes a lot of sense.

If they realize they can't realistically compete by 2017, or they want to give Olivera a chance to stick at 3B, then signing Freese makes little sense.

The presence of Adonis Garcia should not affect this decision in any way.

I think we should wait until next year and get Martin Prado. Right now i dont think the braves will contract no one else. Is time to tank and wait. Another option is if we trade for Nolan Arenado but if thats the plan the braves need to be a 100% sure that they are going to sign him with a extension and not get him and do like Mark Texeira.

Assuming u can get freese on a 1 yr deal or 1 year with team option then it seems like a great fit. Other assumption is that you want to win.

I forgot Freese was even an option. Could be a good signing.

Are you being serious? Do you even know who Arenado is? He isn't a FA until 2020, which is nothing like Tex who was under contract for 1.5 more seasons when the Braves acquired him.

If Cespedes goes to the Nats, that will be annoying.

It will be even more annoying when he signs for 5/110 while the Braves are left with a 700 OPS guy or some lame platoon in LF for the foreseeable future. It will be even more annoying when Ces signs for a bargain contract while the Braves are stuck with the likes of Flowers, AJ, Garcia and Olivera hitting 4th behind Freeman in Suntrust Park because they don't have another hitter in the organization that can hit 20+ HRs, and the FA class next year has zero impact bats available.

Joey Bats will be a FA.

I don't think you'd like what that asking price would be. I would much, much, MUCH rather try to trade for Ryan McMahon if we're trying to get a Rockies 3B. They're the Rockies, maybe they'd do it for some pitching.

what i mean by my comment is that we need cornerstone players for this franchise not another rent. You give away 3 to 4 prospects for 3 years of Arenado that don't worth it. The braves with the players they have on the farm is not enough to win a champion. We need veterans to carry the rookies when they come up. We need players that play for the team not for the money like right now Cespedes. Thats why i believe Prado is a good option because he used to play with us and the fans love him and he can teach Swanson and Albies. We still need that power bat. Maybe Soler, Gallo or Arenado.

Please don't ever leave.

Been researching Rymer Liriano a bit this morning, and am definitely intrigued by him as a LF option for us. He is out of options, but it still seems like a peculiar choice by SD to let him go. Not sure if he'd get to us on waivers since the Phils and Reds are ahead of us in line. Speed / power combo and average to plus defense as a corner OF. Kiley McDaniel had him as a 45 FV coming into 2015 (same as Mallex), and he did nothing to hurt that evaluation last year as a 24 year old in the PCL. Would probably require moving Olivera to 3B or trading Markakis if he were to stick as an MLB player
