Around Baseball Offseason Thread

Out of ST we could put Inciarte there and Bourn in CF to hope bourn shows some life and we can save a little money dealing him.

agreed.. but is it more likely that Bourn builds enough value playing center to save money in some sort of deadline deal, or that Nick increases his value coming off last season but should be stronger to get a better return on a deadline deal? I can't say either way.. but that would be the question to ask IMO..

not out of spring.. would rather not start that arb clock yet. Nicky for another half a year is fine with me..

Not only the Arb clock...but also giving Nick a chance to prove that his loss of power last year was injury driven, and that his value is higher now with a full offseason.

The Dodgers are just a stupid team. I know that sounds harsh, but they consistently make awful decisions it feels like.

I was blasted when I said they are risking this season on some very shaky pitching... Anderson had one good season last year and everyone thought he was going to be a solid #2.. McCarthy probably wont be back this year.. and I still think Ryu is a HUGE ?.. so you have Wood and a bunch of retreads and unknowns. Great if you are not trying to win a freaking WS this year.. Hey, but they shaved their payroll down to around 260 million.. good job there Dodgers..

Well they also have Kershaw

Thanks guy...

Point was you can do worse than Kershaw and a bunch of question marks.

I wasn't being a smart arse.. I really forgot to type what I was thinking in my head.. and yes you can have worse.. but when you have a payroll 250 mil+.. you better have more than Kershaw and a bunch of ??????

I know you weren't.

I don't think the dodgers are in a great position... but I think they're being held to a bit of a higher standard since they've had Kershaw and Grienke... That is not common.

I think they're in OK shape... Hvaing Kershaw helps a lot. And Wood has been pretty good as well over the last few years. If RYU comes back at all, they'll be fine.

true.. I would be worried about Ryu and Wood personally. Giants might be in the drivers seat now.

Honestly, I don't think the Dodgers are in that bad of a position. They have a lot of starting pitcher depth, a young stud in Urias who should make it to the bigs soon, and they have the pieces to acquire any ace that may become available this summer.

I wouldn't be that worried about the Dodgers.

You also forgot to mention they have twice as much money as God. That lets you swing deals other teams can't.

Urais could be great.. but unknown.. Madea was great in Jpn.. but who knows.. Ryu coming back from shoulder surgery is a scary prop.

Sure they have depth, but not quality, proven depth. They have the money and talent to trade for another starter sure.. but would another starter be enough. they still have the problem of getting the ball to Kenley.. and what is his head like. they basically traded for another closer, which, If I remember correctly, pissed him off.. I think the Dodgers are in for a rocky season...

I don't see great things for them either.
I still think teams can ignore the chemistry factor too much. I think the Nats did it, and I think the Dodgers are doing it, too.
