Around Baseball

I agree. The salary would essentially be the same with Uggla and Utley for this and next year. Utley does have some vesting options all the way through 2018 but they are club options with a 2 million buyout. I just wonder how much the Braves would have to sweeten the pot with prospects to get them to take on Uggla. I would imagine quite a bit as they should be able to get a good haul just for prospects and not taking back obscene salary. Even though I think it would take an overpay in prospects to get him I might be inclined to do the deal.

I would absolutely love to get Chase Utley, but I doubt it would ever happen. The lineup would be balanced a lot though: Heyward, Utley/BJ, Freeman, JUP, Gattis, BJ/Utley, CJoh, Simba

Nope. But my point is we would have to give up a top prospect in any such trade.

I was wondering if you had hit the Budweisers early out there today.

I wouldn't put anything past Amaro though -- do we have any toolsy African American players to offer up to Philly? Charles Thomas? Cory Aldridge?

Just saw on Twitter that Jonathan Papelbon and Philly sportswriter Howard Eskin had to be separated in the Phillies clubhouse.

Howard Eskin is a grade A doucher.

For those who forgot he's the one who Charlie Manuel challenged to a fight all those years ago. He probably was criticizing the Phillies publically again. Seemingly Papelbon started it because of Eskin tweeting Papelbon's wife earlier in the week asking her if Papelbon couldn't pitch on Sunday because he was hungover. What a classless doucher.

Oh, well. Damn. Never mind.

Well that being the case, I side with Papelbon. I remember Howard Eskin from the George Michael Sports Machine (how many of you remember that?). He's seemed like a royal doofus.

I remember it CC and yea if Eskin was involved Papelpon was likely more in the right. And if the report about him tweeting Papelpon's wife is true then I wouldn't blame Papelpon even if he broke Eskin's nose.

He absolutely did tweet her (see my link above)

Unfortunately Papelbon punching him in the nose would just make that d-bag richer. Unfortunately stupid Philly people keep listening to him to keep him in a job. Guy is the worst and knows less about baseball than the fart I just ripped.
