Around Baseball

Looks like Jeff Locke is coming back to reality. ERA has risen a full point in a little over a month. 16 earned runs in his last 3 starts equaling a little over 11 innings. Wont be surprised if he finishes with an ERA over 4.

I'd LOVE to play Pitt in the first round. They are going to be an easy out if you ask me.

Pitt is the team to play for sure or the Reds.

I can wait on the Cards and Dodgers for the NLCS.

its pretty likely that the #1 seed will get the weakest team this year. We need to stay ahead of the Dodgers to get there, and it won't be easy. I fear the #2-#3 series will be Braves/Cards. If we're #2 I still think we advance but I'd much rather play Reds/Bucs than StLouis. Surprised how little breathing room we have over the others right now.

And that breathing room may disappear thanks to the waiver wire! I've never hated it as much as this year, but the idea of the Cards, Dodgers, Reds or Pirates (obviously with the Byrd trade) getting better while we stay static just because we're ahead of them right now frustrates me. In 2 weeks after the deadline for post season eligibility, any one of those teams could vault over us thanks to a player they grabbed that we couldn't because of our record. Trying to trade for a player but being blocked from it by one of those teams is wrong, imo. :mad0182:

i still hope the pirates choke.
and hope the dbacks get back in the thick of things to at least pressure the 2 WC leaders

Nats are just seven out in the WC. Assholes won't die.

Not a surprise.

Their schedule is a cakewalk from here on out outside of the last two series.

Wouldn't surprise me if they made a big push at the WC and even the division for that matter, maybe even winning it with our offensive struggles sans Heyward.

I'm shocked that you hold the view that we may choke our lead. SHOCKED!!

just realized how big it will be to finish with best record in NL. If the cardinals and dodgers win their divisions it would be huge to avoid either one of them till the NLCS. I want no part of Kershaw in a 5 game series making two starts. Sign me up for Pitt.

Heyward is going to keep this up all season it seems. The Nats are not making a run. They are a .500 team. They have been all year. Nothing is going to change.

With 30 games and an e# of 18 if we play .500 ball, the nats have to go 28-2 to tie us. For us to lose this division or Washington to make it close we would have to have a pretty epic collapse and they would have to have an epic run. We're 13 up with 30 games to go. Our 2011 collapse we were at our apex 10 games up ont the Cardinals with 29 games to go. So we would have to crash 2 games harder than we did in 2011 when we wen 10-19 and Washington would have to be hotter than St. Louis was who were 21-8. Neither of those will happen. If the Zombie Expos get within 5 games of us it will be a miracle for them.

We'll see how good they look when they end the season with us, the Cardinals, and D-Backs (on the road for the latter 2) Meanwhile we have highlights to end the season of hosting teams like the Marlins, Padres, Brewers, and Phillies.

I want no part of a red hot team coming all the way back like that unless they completely exhausted themselves coming back. Freaking Marlins are useless by the way. They'll probably beat us this weekend though.

As negative and defeatist as you are I'm sure you want no part of anybody. News flash - Only good teams make the playoffs.

I'd love to play the Nats in the playoffs and watch one of our unlikely heroes bloop a single (a Gattis bomb would do) and drive a stake through the whole of their fandom at the very moment hope is reaching a crescendo.
